Re: Sahi's Greenhouse

Yikes, well our house will definitely be more finished than that. (Mostly because the bathroom is already finished.)

*waits for more replies about the date*

The house is slowly progressing. :)

Re: Sahi's Greenhouse

No more washing machine. Today we had my mother-in-law pick up our first load of laundry (to wash it for us).

The first room is almost ready. Tomorrow I'll polish the floor in our bedroom, making it ready (after drying) for furniture. :) And quite possibly I'll clean the floor of one of the other rooms.

Re: Sahi's Greenhouse

Only one out of three rooms still needs a layer of polish. The floors are looking pretty again. The pillar in our attic (that holds the pipes for the water and electricity) has now been extended to contain the air stuff as well and is almost done.

Today we will put in the floor in the attic.

Re: Sahi's Greenhouse

Floors on the first floor are done and the attic floor is done too. Very pretty. I've also started painting the living room. Only the edges so far, but those are finished now so my father-in-law can start with a roller (or whatever it's called*).

Today we go to pick up the first load of furniture. Tomorrow and the day after we go get load two and three.

Tomorrow is also the day my internet connection will be moved, so I probably won't be around for a couple of days. (As my computer is probably one of the last things to be moved.)

Re: Sahi's Greenhouse

Well... about Sage... you just tell me when and I'll show up...
But as I have been asked *glees and twirls in utter happiness* to join the animal ambulance in Breda, I would like to know the date a couple of weeks before so I can make sure I'm not on call... (because it would be rather a bore to be on call out there when the calls would come from down here...*giggles*)

Re: Sahi's Greenhouse

Well the cupboards/closets/whatstheirnames in the livingroom are finished.

The desk in the attic is level again and the bookcases have been placed against the wall. They still need to be bolted together (and perhaps against the wall) as the floor turns out to be pretty crooked underneath them. But at least we can move around again.

Re: Sahi's Greenhouse

Since nobody else is responding and my house is not coming along as quickly as I'd hoped, I'll keep the date at september for now. (Because june is just gonna be here before I know it.)

But slowly but certainly my house is becoming an actual house. The kitchen is becoming an actual usuable kitchen. Meaning that all the stuff that was piled on the counter that did not belong in the kitchen has now found another home. The room that will hold our laundry holds the closets it's supposed to hold AND they've got doors AND they've been bolted together and to the wall. My books are in their cases (although horribly mixed up) that are nicely bolted together.

And I've started on cleaning the kitchen floor.

Tonight we're going once again to Ikea for more stuff. We still need a few step ladders (for the huge closets and book cases), a couple of cabinets for the bathroom, night dressers (or stands? whatever the thingy beside your bed is called) and lots of other small stuff. Oh, and curtains. We're still trying to figure out what the living room needs.

Yalahii.

Re: Sahi's Greenhouse

I'm not quite sure if I'm happy about it, but we're not going to Ikea tonight (or at least it's not very likely). The reason? Ikea is delivering our bed tonight. This afternoon I got a message that they had gotten a small supply of them. So Ivo dropped everything and went there immediately and is now at home waiting for the delivery truck.

Re: Sahi's Greenhouse

Gah! They were supposed to deliver the bed between 4 and 8 PM. Just past 8 we get a call by the driver in what is only barely Dutch that "our address doesn't work". Apparently his navigation system couldn't find it or something. After many phone calls and my driving out to intercept him and send him in the right direction (I had to go get some mail from our old address) he arrived at twenty minutes to ten.

So the bed is still lying in our living room in pieces. And will probably stay there until the weekend. :(

Oh well, at least it DID arrive.

Re: Sahi's Greenhouse

Apparently our complaint at Ikea helped. We're getting half the money we paid for the transport back.

And yesterday I did nothing. Or rather I went fencing for the first time after the move. (i.e. four weeks without fencing) There was no trainer as he was in Italy and there were only three of us, but we went to work and had a nice workout.

Very okay. The flag is for the national memorial of WWII.

Our house is starting to look like a home, although it's still a bit messy.

Re: Sahi's Greenhouse

Of course - WWII.
I should have guessed.

I'm glad to hear you're beginning to settle in. sometimes it takes a while to get a house the way you want it - but it's always worth the time (and money!) in the end :)
I've spent a week looking at roof tile samples here. There's a suprising amount of choice but I need to make a decision sooner rather than later as I think another winter will result in leaks.

Re: Sahi's Greenhouse

Repost of the list of people joining Sage so far (although not all are set in stone yet):

So the list of people who want to attend so far is:
Magpie
Aan Allein
Libra
Yvls
Sahi (of course)

Any more? I already stated in the previous greenhouse that if you bring a long a camping mattress and a sleeping bag, there will be a place to sleep if needed. (I have one mattress to offer and in need we also have some self-inflating mattresses.)

I realized this week that I haven't ever been farther than to Vienna on my own - and even that was only to go to university. I keep thinking and thinking, but there's just nowhere else I've ever gone by myself. *shakes head at self*

Re: Sahi's Greenhouse

Well there's a first time for everything. :)

Today we're going to try for Ikea again. The first thing to go wrong is that we forgot to bring the list of stuff we should be looking at. *rolls eyes* Oh well, I think I remember most of the stuff that was on it. Just not the measurements we took.

Re: Sahi's Greenhouse

Gah, Ikea was redecorating! Meaning that half of their store was in upheaval. Making it very hard for us to find what we were looking for. But we didn't go for nothing. We found two night stands, a side table, a teeny tiny greenhouse, and two small step ladders to reach the upper shelves of our wardrobe and book cases.
