An outline can be found on page 9, and a link to the word document that I've written ages ago can be found in the intro post.

Re: The history of Shadowmarch
I guess it just sneaked in somehow. Which really bugs me, cause I always labeled myself as official historian. And now I can't find out when it became official. :(

You know roughly the year, just steal and old festival date and name it for your own purposes, there's plenty of precedence.

Re: The history of Shadowmarch
I tried tracking it down for a bit as well, but without much luck. You definitely were historian already in August 2001. this post is the clearest reference I could find. (Nolan was the first I could find speculating about Yassamez being a historian. Maybe Tad's post was something that was overwritten by reg at some point? Ooh, I did find where he started the Council of Sages (so I'd just go read every single post made in the two or three days after that).
Also interesting in that post, things were set up in such a way that one would automatically become a Deacon upon reaching 99,999 posts. If that never changed, there's several people here who I think have a shot at making that within the next decade or so... :D

Re: The history of Shadowmarch
Thanks Aan, that reference I hadn't found yet. The first mention of me being a historian was on August 15th, but that's a proclamation by me. But I wasn't labeling myself official then.
So I'm afraid that if Tad really named me historian (as that post you found seems to imply), Reg ate the post, cause I did a direct search on the database itself looking for historian in posts by Tad and I couldn't find it.

I've just finished summarizing the posts by WolfSpritzer. I had forgotten quite how brilliant his posts were. I really miss him. He hasn't been back since the board crashed.

Re: The history of Shadowmarch
Bah, I've just been suffering cold and misery for half an hour due to the history. I was so immersed in my research that I completely missed my train station. Which meant that I had to shiver for fifteen minutes in the cold morning mist at the next station before my train arrived. Which then waited for a couple of minutes before leaving, meaning I got to work half an hour late!
But even though I haven't posted anything on the blog yet, the research is continuing.
I've just reconsidered my plans and am now toying with the idea of writing all this in the shape of a diary. (With an index to more easily find all historical events.)

Re: The history of Shadowmarch
Will do. Too bad I keep forgetting to put the stuff on my blog.
I'm at 23 pages of research already. Mind you some pages only have a few lines on them, due to the layout in chapters, but I must have quite a few pages filled already. The history of KASS is quite long!

Re: The history of Shadowmarch
Hey guys, I'm having serious doubts about doing this for Nano.
1. It will be very hard to make the history into a novel. 2. Quite a lot of words in there would be literal quotes of other people. There are simply so many word smiths in here, that I couldn't possibly write it all in my own words and still have it be as good. 3. The history requires a lot more research. I haven't even finished the old stuff yet, and I really want some of the newer stuff (read post-conflagration) in as well.
So I'm contemplating writing a novel first and the history after that.
Oh well, I still have a couple of days to decide.

Re: The history of Shadowmarch
Sorry guys, you'll have to wait a bit longer. My research is nowhere near finished, so I'm going for my own story. BUT I will continue research after Nano. So far I have 29 pages of notes already. And I haven't even started on the recent years yet.

Re: The history of Shadowmarch
Help is always welcome! But first I'll need to put up the file with notes (to let you know what I have already done).
But now that there is search functionality you could start on retrieving some 'modern' history. ;) And no I haven't got a clue what to look into yet.

OK, just let me know what you've already done. I suppose I could at least be helpful for the stuff during the last three years or so...
