Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'

Re: Infinity's

There isn't too much wildlife around us ~ rabbits & such, although when you get out to the mountains there's tons of elk, deer, bighorn sheep, mountain goats etc.

And last week we had two coyote attacks on small children in city parks.  yikes.  One of which we frequent....

had a great weekend - cleaning out my flower beds, cheering my perennials on - they're growing so well - I'm terrified of what a blizzard would do to them - and you know we aren't done with the snow yet...

Re: Infinity's

I fell asleep last night listening to coyotes. :)

We're done with the snow here. It's almost may. We don't get snow in may. *nods*

It's gonna be warm today, 27c (that's near 80, thinks me). I'm not gonna be outside. I've gotta go and let the doctor remove freckles from me. How odd and awful and frightening.

Re: Infinity's

it was so warm last week here, then it got all cold and unpleasant again. there was supposed to be snow last night and today but there isn't any sign of it so far and it's gotten a bit warmer today.

and on that note: i've had some of the best conversations of my life with cab drivers. another reason for me tot ake cabs everywhere. that and the fact that public trasportation can be a pain in the goddamn ass.

Re: Infinity's

We get snow in May.  Had lots on mother's day last year.  And on the May long weekend in '97 - I know that 'cause my Dad drove up here to visit us from California and he had to start out home in the snow....  he's flying up this year & I'm keeping fingers crossed for warmness.  Plus we start soccer next week - don't like to see cold kidlets.

Re: Infinity's

Thank you. :)

I'm back and hurting. I was lucky to be able to bring my husband and I tried to be brave.

Still a bit shakey. Think I'll go and lie down for a while.

Re: Infinity's

I'm still waiting for all the freezing to wear off. They *look* awful. One is all covered up and I have to wait a couple of days before I can unwrap it.

I think I want a puppy. Or a baby. What an odd thought. Maybe I could adopt a baby... Flowers would be nice, too. A garden. But a puppy is more interactive than a garden...

I know how you feel.  And I still have some babies at home.  Although there are days when I'd be willing to send them to you for a while....

Puppies are good, too.  I miss my dog.  That unconditional love is amazing.

Re: Infinity's

:)  That is why I'm not letting my daughter aged past 8 years.  That's just how its going to be.

I know how my sister and I were as teenagers and I just shudder at the thought of having one in my home.   I'm scared.

Calesta -

That's a plan! Too late for me, mine are 15 and 18.

I love hearing how I suck at least once a day. Gives my life meaning, ya know?

Re: Infinity's

yikes!  is it really that bad?  My dad told me that his theory is teenagers have to be awful - if kids were sweet and cute like mine are right now - forever then we'd never want to let them go.  If they are typical teenagers it helps with the letting go.

Don't know if he's right or not - my kids are still cute & sweet & I'm the centre of their world :)

You get used to it.

They can be oh-so sweet sometimes ... when they want the car keys, that is!

Re: Infinity's

I'm glad I don't have a teenage daughter. I don't think I could take it. It's hard enough with a teenage son.

G'maen, all. I lived through the night. I have three stitches. I dun know what they look like yet, though.

It's a lovely sunny day here. Nice temperature, decent wind level, all that. On the weekend our Farmer's Market starts up. I'm really looking forward to it. They close down a whole street once a week until October for this. All summer long they have live music in the evening. I love it muchly.

Re: Infinity's

*waves at Calesta*

Rainy here.

Markets are great, Jen!
We have a market here as well.  It takes up the parking lot behind the City Hall.  In the spring and fall it's just on the weekends, but in the summer it's pretty much every day, although less booths on weekdays I think.  We don't have live music with the market, but that's a good idea!  We do have a park in front of City Hall though where they have summer live music.  They have it at lunch time certain weekdays and on some evenings I think.  Very nifty.  They do it in a couple other parks around town as well.  And they always have a few big craft fairs and things through the summer which take up the whole park and sorta blend into the market.  I love that kind of stuff! It's one good thing about living in a very touristy city I guess! :)

Re: Infinity's

Yeah, market's are wonderful. I'm really excited about the opening this year. They close down several blocks for the opening and have all kinds of sales and events and fun stuff.

Calesta- Snowy? I can't believe it. I was sure it would be over for you. Ah, well, May is coming soon, then you can look forward to summer shortly afterward. I'm looking forward to fall. My son wants winter. He's come down with allergies for the first time ever. It nasty. I even have him home from school today. He can't seem to stop sneezing. I suppose I should find him some medicine.

Re: Infinity's

Farmer's Market opened up here last week - every Tuesday afternoon thru the early evening. My daughter Chelsea and I usually go there for dinner. There's a crepe stand that makes marvelous things.

Also, the fresh, local produce. Yum! Good time guaranteed for all.

Someday will find you.

Re: Infinity's

My favorite farmers market was the one in Saskatoon ~ it was so much fun.  I also love the one in St Albert (suburb of Edmonton) but it doesn't start up 'til the first weekend in July.  Nothing's growing here yet....

I knew the snow wasn't finished with us.  I don't think it was enough to knock out any of my plants though (crossing my fingers).

:)  Its okay - I know its not going to last.
