Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

Re: Infinity's

I'm not that fussed, to be honest.  It's a junk job, and will be thrown away soon.

Re: Infinity's

I actually like my job, for all that most people would think the hours suck. The pay's decent and potentially about to get better, and it seems actually stable- something that is, after the last joke of a job, immensely attractive to me.

I wish you could find something you liked, Shads. :( I fret for you.

Re: Infinity's

I like my job, too, but it makes me nervous. they have very high expectations for someone who has no  skills. Plus I only get a few hours a week.

*sigh*

Re: Infinity's

What a great job, though. :) To work in a bookshop... ~happysigh~ Heaven. Almost as much a heaven as working in a coffeeshop. Combine the two and I'd never leave. *wg*

Maybe I'll get a loan, move to England and open a coffeeshop/bookstore. And you can come and work for me. My only expectations are let me teach you how to make perfect coffee, and try not to let Infinity scare the customers.

Or seduce them. Er.

Re: Infinity's

I don't quite like the cafe/bookshop idea.  People get crumbs in the pages of books they don't intend to buy.  And break spines.  Feels like ripping the authors off - that's what libraries are for.

Re: Infinity's

I love the bookshop I work in. It's a delightful little place. I don't know that I'm too keen on my manager, but hey, you can't have everything. It's not like she's evil. Just that she reminds me of my mother. *sigh*

I've tried to convince my husband to let me open a coffeeshop (teahouse, demmit!). I think, once the development goes in on the mountain, I might look into it a bit more.

Re: Infinity's

.... you could always just set aside certain books for reading while munching, but say nono to the rest.

Re: Infinity's

Oh! On the rooftop looking at the stars! I used to do this often as a child. I love the night sky, especially in fall and winter. The morning star set just outside my bedroom window, always woke to see it.
