Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'

Ohmygod. Infinity has been demoted to pool-boy? He may never get over that.

Re: Infinity's

no no no!  utmost respect for Infinity!  But if there is a pool, there must be a pool-boy (and girl).  mini-infinities.

Re: Infinity's

I like the idea of a pool boy/girl!  Hazel is right ~  doesn't have to be Infinity.  It can just be some nice eye candy for us to enjoy 'til the pool gets put away for the winter.

Although I reserve the right to make it summery on the patio in the middle of winter, too.

Re: Infinity's

Dude, any eye-candy you get will *so* pale in comparison to Infinity. Ah, well. If you want pool-critters, let 'em be griffins!

I can still have Infinity serve me. :D

Went out today for a job facilitation interview. Came back with all kinds of weird ideas. The lady who interviewed me asked me to join the town's Literacy Commitee--which she is the head of. She also asked me if I wanted to develop a project for teen literacy. When I told her what I would do with that idea she was pretty enthused.

Still this is all volunteer--networking she called it--so I'm gonna start up a business. Housecleaning. Easy stuff.  She figured that within a year or two I could have a really great job in town. Something in the Library or working in the writing/teaching field.

Heh. Who knows. At least with the housecleaning I can set my own hours and still make my writing come first.

Now the hard part. Selling my husband on my idea.

Re: Infinity's

That's great news Jen!  Good for you for getting out & doing something.  The literacy thing sounds really cool & a good fit for your situation.

bah to your hubby if he doesn't like the idea of you doing something that makes you happy.  I bet your cats would say yes :)

*floats by and eyes the griffins*

oooo! pretty griffins

*SNAP*

ow!  nasty griffin!  was just trying to tickle your neck feathers!

I second the congrats Jen- sounds like a good plan.  But I wonder - couldn't you also volunteer at the Library?  I did that when I was younger and it helped me get a job at the Library and a bookstore.

Re: Infinity's

You have to write a resume for volunteer work? Or are ou applying for a real job? ;)

Re: Infinity's

Both. :)

The resume is for a possible real job as well as for trying to create a position teaching literature to troubled teens. Literature = sci-fi and fantasy and manga/graphic novels. :)

The volunteering. Huh. I dunno. I guess you don't need a resume for that.

I've had to prep resumes for volunteer jobs that were in high demand.

That's right, Infinity's Pool now has orcas.

But they're friendly.

*hopes Hazel didn't get orcas from Sea World in SD*

Love that line in Nemo - 'that sounded a bit orcaish, didn't it sound orcaish to you?'

Re: Infinity's

my son and I speak whale to each other all the time.  We love doing the orca part and then Super D says to me "No speak whale mommy!"

We went to a Nemo showing with some friends of ours last weekend.  It was in their local park and there were tons of families there.  It was hysterical to hear the whole crowd speaking whale back at the screen!

And no, my orcas are very well behaved.

Re: Infinity's

That sounds hilarious Hazel!  My family would love something like that.  I'm fairly certain we can all recite the movie by heart, too.  Juli and I have coopted many lines - like when we do yoga together 'Do you have your yoga buddy?'

*floats past the orcas and griffens*

I love this place, too.

When do we get to move in?

Re: Infinity's

It was quite a lot of fun and let us feel normal for knowing all the lines.  I had told my friends that I fully expected the Rocky Horror experience with little kids up at the front running around and acting out the scenes.  My son does bits from Lion King 1 1/2 at home.  He walks away from me and then turns around and yells "What?!... Bye Mom!"

A team I am on that designs training has decided that since class participants need support networks to help get our endangered species work done, we will have folks designate their "Exit Buddies"
