Re: Fantasy Fair in the Netherlands (annual event)

Somebody named their bookstore after one of Tad's books? (Anderland is the Dutch translation of Otherland...)

But why are they all on the other side of the country? I think he should come to ABC too! *not that his Dutch publisher would even consider such a thing, considering that they don't sell Dutch books*

Oosterhout, that isn't too far away. Though I could get to Rotterdam in the same amount of time, if it happens to be close to the station. And it even is...

I informed with the Dutch publisher for Tad's schedule, and here's their reply:

(translation: Tad Williams will sign at the bookstores mentioned below and of course at the Fantasy Fair itself; Thursday and Friday dates).

This seems a kind of limited schedule for a week's visit?  Unfortunately I'm terribly busy and hectic at the moment, so I probably won't be at the fair.  Currently I hope I can make it to the Oosterhout signing on Friday afternoon.

Oosterhout???? *perks*....is that the noord-brabant one or the drenthe-one???

Like I said, they're all on the other side of the country. What's wrong with Amsterdam and Utrecht?

Re: Fantasy Fair in the Netherlands (annual event)

Ok, I've emailed all you dutch people who replied to this thread (Sahi, Kunohara, Libra, Marion, Isabel, Lukien - did I forget anyone??) to the email addresses in your public profiles. (You hotmail users, please go and dig this up out of your junk folders, and please switch to a decent email provider for your junk-accounts, okay? I hear gmail is pretty good.) ;)
Doesn't look very hopeful, timewise: either Thursday until mid/later afternoon or on Monday. Let me know through email when you've arranged to be mysteriously and suddenyly away on sick-leave from work,  rescheduled your examsrobbed a liqour store, and cancelled all your other plans so that you can attend. :)

Re: Fantasy Fair in the Netherlands (annual event)

Ok, this is pathetic. Two of those email messages failed to deliver. Can't tell which yet (the email servers gave the wrong status code for unknown usernames, so my email server is going to keep on trying for a week).
Guess I'll go PM instead...

Re: Fantasy Fair in the Netherlands (annual event)

Sahi: yeah, I looked closer at the error message, and it's not the username that's problematic, it's the domain name! (I hope it's just the missing stealth DNS server on your domain that's the issue), but I fear it's the configuration of my server's DNS cache... *sighs*

The other email did deliver, so it's only you who didn't get the email. See your PM. :)

Sent another mail Aan!

And no, I won't be able to attend any of the readings (beside those at the fair).

Re: Fantasy Fair in the Netherlands (annual event)

Ok, I emailed Deb asking for clarification if Monday evening is possible. Otherwise it'll be Thursday early afternoon. With the two of you being able to make that, that's already a better showing than I'd feared we'd be reduced to. :)

Don't know if I'll go to Rotterdam yet - will decide closer to the day.

Re: Fantasy Fair in the Netherlands (annual event)

Any Dutch smarchers coming to the fair who want a smarch magnet? I intend to put my stack on the table Tad will be signing behind (assuming he'll be signing at the fair), so I want to know if I should keep some behind.

Yalahii.

Re: Fantasy Fair in the Netherlands (annual event)

I'll definitely keep one for you Lunar! I'll just make sure that I keep about a quarter of those magnets then, cause I still have about 60 of them.

Oh, and Aan, if you read this, I've sent you an email with my mobile number, since I might not read whatever mail you send me about the meet in time if it will be on monday. I'll try to read my mail just before I leave today (which will be around lunch). I'd appreciate it if you could call or SMS me if the news gets to you later than that.

Re: Fantasy Fair in the Netherlands (annual event)

As replied back, but noting here since I realize I didn't state it too clearly above (although I did write it down precisely in email) it'd be Monday the 24th (the day after the Fair), so not for another week. :)

Just thinking...should I/is it allowed to bring video-equipment to the Fair/siging at Donner?

Since I won't be able to attend any of Tad's signings this time round, I was wondering if someone would be willing to write up a report or some impressions from the signings for my website shadowmarch.net?

Anyway, have lots of fun!

We don't know yet. Waiting to hear back from Deborah. It'll be Monday evening if they indeed have that time free (her previous email could be interpreted both ways), otherwise it'll be Thursday early afternoon. The location will be Amsterdam, btw.

Lukien wrote:

Given the large number of people with digital cameras that also do a decent job at recording video, I don't see how they ever could not allow it. (Well, if you show up with a TV-camera videocamera, they might say something, but otherwise...) :)
