Re: What are you watching?

Well I recently was turned on to two television series, The Office and Lost.  So I went out and bought the first two seasons of each on DVD and pretty much have watched them almost straight through over the past few weeks.

I kind of wish I could have gotten on the Lost bandwagon when a few more seasons were already out on DVD, cause it is a lot better watching it straight through without commercial breaks.

Re: What are you watching?

I saw Harold and Maude the other night.  Good movie, if a little Cat Stevens-heavy.

Also, I've got a ticket to see Borat at 5:30 today.  Should be hilario.

Re: What are you watching?

Last thing I saw in the movies was that Black Dhalia thingy. Thought, that a scarlett Johannsen Movie can't be that bad, but I was a bit disapointed.
Well, there were some interesting aspects, but the main story was a bit too large for two hours... There were lots of disgustings pics in it... I could do without those!

Dream on.

Re: What are you watching?

The 13th Floor, a very under-rated movie. It's as good as the first Matrix (not action-wise)without the burden of the two sequels. Plus, its one of the first movies I've seen that has almost no plot holes.

Re: What are you watching?

The Seven Samurai by Akira Kurosawa.

one of the best movies of all time! every character is contradictious in many ways. the majority of scenes is arranged like on a stage, and every gesture, every expression and movement seems to have a meaning. and the action scenes are realistic in the sense that there are no slow motion effects and hectic camera views at all. ah, the 50īs...

also watched Zatoichi by Takeshi Kitano. thatīs fun to watch, very diverting. forget Tarantino... Kitano is insane, but genius. and he pays ironic tribute to Kurosawa of course.

Yes, a very good film. Alexandra received it as a Christmas gift, and we all watched. She's busily collecting the whole Criterion collection.

Re: What are you watching?

"The Queen of Blood."

Synopsis from IMDB:

The year is 1990. An alien species makes contact with Earth through radio transmission, notifying of an imminent visit. Alien ship crash lands on Mars, and a rescue team is sent out from Earth. (The plot thickens! :) Eventually a surviving female is located and brought on to the human ship. The female is light green with an amazing hair-do. After some unsuccessful attempts by the human crew to feed her, she is more or less left to herself. (Ominous, is it not?) While most of the crew sleeps, the Alien female hypnotizes the astronaut on guard. When the crew awakens, she is sleeping, and the guard is DEAD! Brief examination shows that the Alien ate his blood. THE QUEEN OF BLOOD! Naturally, there is a lot of blood plasma on the ship, so they feed the alien using that supply. When they are almost home, however, yet another crew member is eaten, a fight breaks out, and the alien is accidentally killed before she can finish the third guy. Phew! The ship lands on Earth, finally! But there is trouble... The two remaining astronauts find a lot of eggs when they are about to leave the ship. Obviously the alien was a kind of bee-queen whose sole purpose was to spread their species to Earth, where there is a lot of yummy food... One of the astronauts tries to warn the arriving scientists of this danger, but they could not care less. Being scientists, they know what they are doing, so they collect the eggs and run happily along. The astronaut sums it up: "Well, at least I TRIED..."

Oops. They ran out of blood and now she's feeding on the crew.

Now, they've tied her to a couch. Good ol', tie me up, tie me down.

Wait. She has lasers in her eyes and burned through her restraints.

When injured, she bleeds green.

Re: What are you watching?

She's dead. She bled to death. Evidently, according to the astronaut, she's a hemophiliac.

Before she died, she laid eggs all over the ship.

Re: What are you watching?

I spent last night watching UFC's Ultimate Knockouts (1&2!) after the funky special on Gracie and his thouroughly enjoyable sessions of hurtage. Like the one where he manages to submit that guy while he's upside down and then he breaks his arm, even after the poor guy taps out. Oh, makes me laugh it does.

Dude, I love Spike TV. Well, except all the bits with slinky dancing girls.

Okay, maybe I just love the UFC. That's prolly more accurate.

And, Em, might I just say that the movie you just told us about is completely EWWWW!

I saw History of Violence on Friday.  That was... an interesting movie.

Now I'm going through the fourth season of The Shield.

Re: What are you watching?

Hey! I saw History of Violence on friday, too!

I love that movie, though the beginning drags some and I have the feeling that there could have been more symmetry in the father-son violence issue.

Re: What are you watching?

It was pretty good, I thought, but my friend said it was one of his favorite movies, and I saw a lot of critics in love with the thing... I didn't see that it was that great.  A solid movie, no doubt, but not as good as they say.

Also - Roger Corman did Death Race 2000, right?  That movie was awesome.

Re: What are you watching?

Roger Corman has done lots of movies - "Little Shop of Horrors" (the original), "Buckets of Blood" and lots and lots of B-movies.

Good fun, those.
