Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

Re: Sahi's Greenhouse (Sahi)

GAAH! Four days without Smarching! THE HORROR!

I tried to be nice to Deborah by changing my e-mail address so she wouldn't have to send all my PM warnings manually anymore. But then I didn't receive my password. I even sent her a mail about it. Just when she answers my boyfriend finds the password in his spambox and accidentally deletes it! (It was sent on thursday and only arrived today.)

It turns out that Shadowmarch is on a DSN blacklist that is known to send spam!

So now I decided to make a new user to cope with it.

There, enough ranting!

Thanks for posting Angelus! I really enjoyed them. Is that poem you posted for Sheryn yours? If not can you tell me who wrote it? It is very beautiful!

For those who are interested, I have updated the list with visitors to the Greenhouse and the Greenhouse archive. Both are now up to date to version 3.

Yalahii!

Sahi.

Re: Sahi's Greenhouse (Sahi)

I`d like to say that was my own effort but I have to admit I saw it on another site and it immediately made me  think of my sunny beautiful Cougar Woman. If I can  remember where I got it from I`ll let you know.

Sorry to hear about your problems with your password. Does this mean you are no longer a Mantis? If so I`m sure one of the Hierarchs can go in and fix things for you. I`d be traumatised to lose my beloved post count after such long and careful nurturing. Fed it on bull**** for months now and it`s just starting to sneak up the member list...so I understand utterly.

Re: Sahi's Greenhouse (Sahi)

A ten-year-old boy was failing math. His parents tried everything from tutors to hypnosis, but with no success.

Finally, at the urging of a family friend, they decided to enroll their son in a private school highly regarded for its high moral standards and focus on supporting loving families.

After the first day, the boy's parents were surprised when he walked in after school with a stern, focused and very determined expression on his face.

He went straight past them, right to his room and quietly closed the door. For nearly two hours he toiled away in his room - with math books strewn about his desk and the surrounding floor.

He emerged long enough to eat, and after quickly cleaning his plate, went straight back to his room, closed the door and worked feverishly at his studies until bedtime.

This pattern of behavior continued until it was time for the first quarter's report card. The boy walked in with it unopened - laid it on the dinner table and went straight to his room.

Cautiously, his mother opened it and, to her amazement, she saw a large red 'A' under the subject of Math.

Overjoyed, she and her husband rushed into their son's room, thrilled at his remarkable progress.

"Was it the nuns that did it?" the father asked. The boy shook his head and said, "No."

Next the father asked, "Was it the one-to-one tutoring? The peer-mentoring?" Again, the boy said, "No."

Surprised, the father continued probing, "The textbooks? The teachers? The curriculum?"

Yet again, the son said, "No. On that first day, when I walked in the front door and saw that guy nailed to the plus sign, I KNEW they meant business!"

@Sahi:

I had the board re-send your password.  Let me know if this one doesn't survive your boyfriend's spam-wrath either, and we'll work something else out.

Just as a note: our new hosting arrangement should (hopefully) take care of some of the email troubles that have plagued the site.  The server should be in sometime this week, with migration efforts to follow.

Thanks Matt! I'm sure Ivo'll be more carefull in emptying his spambox now. Especially since I put this account on his spambox (it has it's own e-mail address and since I couldn't use my own, I used that address directly).

Re: Sahi's Greenhouse (Sahi)

There was a case in one hospital's Intensive Care ward where patients
always died in the same bed, on Sunday morning, at about 11 a.m.,
regardless of their medical condition. This puzzled the doctors and some
even thought that it had something to do with the supernatural. No one
could solve the mystery as to why the deaths occurred around 11 a.m. on
Sundays. So a World-Wide team of experts was assembled to investigate the
cause of the incidents. The next Sunday morning, a few minutes before 11
a.m., all doctors and nurses nervously wait outside the ward to see for
themselves what the terrible phenomenon was all about. Some were holding
wooden crosses, prayer books and other holy objects to ward off the evil
spirits. Just when the clock struck 11..! . Pookie Johnson, The part-time
Sunday sweeper, entered the ward and unplugged the life support system so
that he could use the vacuum cleaner.

Re: Sahi's Greenhouse (Sahi)

The classically minded among us may have noted a new TV ad for Microsoft's Internet Explorer e-mail program which uses the
musical theme of the "Confutatis Maledictis" from Mozart's Requiem.

"Where do you want to go today?" is the cheery line on the screen, while the chorus sings "Confutatis maledictis, flammis acribus addictis."

For those of you who have not studied Latin, this translates to "The damned and accursed are consigned to the flames of hell."

Good to know that Microsoft has done its research!
