What are you talking about? Did I or did I not mention Gilgy in my Super Rant? Well... er... did I? Agh, too lazy to check.

Nice to see they found his tomb, though. :) I suggest we make him the new temporary leader of Iraq. (I know he's supposed to be dead, but he's also supposed to be two-thirds a god. What if he's faking it?)

Yes I was up early, but you were an hour off Angelus. I was at work at 7.30. So I can't have posted earlier as that (since I didn't turn on my 'puter at home). And I couldn't go to bed, since I had to work. (I wanted to leave an hour early, so had to start an hour early too.)

Speaking of the wonderful state of Michigan (and home of my adopted team the Lions), here are a few pointers to identify a local.
1.You've never met any celebrities.
2."Vacation" means going to Cedar Point.
3.At least 1 member of your family disowns you the week of the Michigan/Michigan State game.
4.Half the change in your pocket is Canadian.....eh!
5.You drive 86 mph on the highway and pass on the right.
6.Your idea of a traffic jam is 40 cars waiting to pass an orange barrel.
7.You know how to play (and pronounce) Euchre.
8.It's easy to get VERNORS Ginger Ale, Sanders Hot Fudge sauce, AND Faygo Pop.
9.You know how to pronounce "Mackinac."
10.You've had to switch on the "heat" and the "A/C" in the same day.
11.You bake with SODA and drink a POP.
12.The movie "Escanaba in Da Moonlight" wasn't funny. You consider it a documentary.
13.Your little league game was snowed out.
14.The word "thumb" has geographical, rather than anatomical significance.
15.You show people where you grew up by pointing to a spot on your left hand.
16. Traveling coast-to-coast means driving from Port Huron to Muskegon.
17.You measure distance in minutes.

19.You know that Kalamazoo not only exists, but isn't that far from Hell.
20.Your year has 2 seasons: Winter and Construction.
21.Home Depot on any Saturday is busier than toy stores at Christmas.
22.You know when it has rained because of the smell of worms.
23.Owning a Japanese car was a hangin' offense in your hometown.
24.You believe that "down south" means Toledo.
25.You know how to pronounce "Gratiot".
26.YOU ACTUALLY "GET" THESE JOKES TELL THEM TO ALL YOUR MICHIGAN FRIENDS AND FAMILY!

Eh, heh. You only need to see how I described Gaylord, MI, to Paragon to see how true this is. :P
[b] 18.When giving directions, you refer to "A Michigan Left."
Actually, I think I just call it "left" (but I know what a Michigan Left is.)
[b] 19.You know that Kalamazoo not only exists, but isn't that far from Hell.
Yes, the town is called Hell. They have the coolest named events (such as the first snowfall, which is "Hell Freezes Over"), and is one of the few towns where you can claim to have "Gone to Hell and back."
Yup, that list is pretty dang true. (And what do they mean owning a Japanese car WAS a hanging offense?) Ah, that list DOES ring true. :P

Re: A Forum 9 Trustee Territory (Rook & Aan`allein)
Mini-Rant:
Agh, didn't have time to do a full-fledged rant this week. A lot of working over time, a lot of sleeping late.... There's a bit of a humorous thread going on at Guthwulf.com about your final epitath on your tombstone. The thread is pretty funny, ranging from "I drank what?" (from Pandy) to "Soylent Green is People!" (from Dragondawn).
I recall, though, a more somber and inspiring epitath I heard earlier this week. The mother-in-law of one of my friends died last Friday, and I attended the funeral last Sunday. It was a surprisingly bright funeral held in a well-lit church covered with many colorful murals. Everyone was dressing in bright pastels ... well, except the few of us who didn't get the dress code notice in advance. My friend tells me his mother-in-law wanted it this way, as a testament of the celebration of life.
Anyway, I heard one of the most beautiful eulogies. It wasn't particularly poetic, but it was something that made me respect the woman, even though I had only met her once in my life, and even then she was too ill to make much conversation. It was this: "Every week, she aided the sick at the leper colonies." She would hug them, speak to them, dress their wounds.
I realized at that moment that this was true bravery and true love. There really is no greater honor than risking your own life to care for your fellow man. It also made me realize how little in my life that I'd done so far that was truly as significant. So, Maria Bernandez, if you're reading this mini-rant from heaven, our world just ain't the same without you, and the world sure could use a lot more people like you.
Now, here's a really odd aspect of the funeral I went to: food was being served inside the chapel where the body was laid. (After the service, of course.) I recalled this story to a friend of mine, and he tells me that it's sort of an old-fashioned Western tradition to share one final meal with the departed. That didn't mean I was any less creeped out, so I took my meal outside.
I suppose it's not as bad as other Filipino funeral traditions. I saw a videotape of my Grandmother's funeral in the Philippines, and the guests were sitting around the body, drinking booze, smoking cigarettes, and playing cards while my mother was comforting my Grandfather (he has also since passed away, bless his soul). Now, I saw a documentary about Filipino funerals on PBS once, and the narrator explained that this was "tradition": gambling, drinking, and smoking were ways to ward off evil spirits.
I remain incredibly skeptical of this whole "tradition" thing, and I'm convince that some ancient Filipinos made up this hoax as an excuse to get plastered. You know we're perfectly capable of it. Didn't we make up the whole "colony of untouched natives" hoax a while back? (I found it in a Xenodochium link. Thanks, Paragon!)

Oh yes, one more thing:
[b]2."Vacation" means going to Cedar Point.
Heh heh. So very true. But man, there's nothing wrong with that! I mean, what's life if you don't get to the Point? (Yes, they've successfully brainwashed us all. Help ussssssss.)

Re: A Forum 9 Trustee Territory (Rook & Aan`allein)
That funeral thing is weird. I mean, funerals are the event where your very personal standars of piety are on the test. It is very telling how you react, or how you react to other people's reactions. I guess I'm very old-fashionedly pious, in that respect... I couldn't be merry at a funeral, even if I tried :( (Especially since I'm now coming into an age where you begin to realize the mortality of your parents. Don't really want to think about that...)
Oh, on a completely unrelated side note: Wish me LUCK in an hour from now! I need it. I might win a Gamecube then, you know, the special Zelda: TWW package. OOOH! I mean, I ought to win, cause I'm the high score queen, but then again, I didn't make it to the 2nd level... Oh! okay, let me explain: I wasn't feeling too great yesterday evening, but I wasn't in the mood for reading and felt like going out without actually being 'social', so...I contemplated what to do. Now, there's this competition on my local radio station: you can go to the studio, play Zelda:TWW on the Gamecube and try to collect as many rubies as possible within an hour. Yeah...it can't get anymore geeky alright, but hey, I thought it'd be better than slacking at home and cursing my defect copy of ChronoCross (DAMN YOU DISC 1!) Anyway, I called very late, but maybe they thought I was nice and so made an exception and still let me in at 20:30 pm.(as the last participant!) Anyway, that game is soooo *cute*!!! I was giggling like mad all the time -- I mean, you have to carry around oinking piggies, for example. I loved it! The radio guys were also very nice (not much older than me, either -- it's the 'youth' channel) and I had a really great time. heh. Anyway, although I collected most rubies, I couldn't get more than 200 -- I was too dumb to make it to level 2 cause I didn't find out how to use the first key item until very late (they let me play waaaay over an hour, anyway, cause they found it very entertaining: "You're the only one who's actually been laughing while playing!" Must've impressed them ;P ) anyway, so although I'm high score queen (TAKE THIS; you nerdy teenaged guys! HAHAHAA!) I might not win, cause they might decide among those who made it to level 2, or they might draw lots among the final three or so. Oh well. at least I stand a perceptible chance ^_^
(and in the end, it was a sociable evening, cause after geeky gaming, I went for a drink with one of the radio girls in a hyper-fashionable bar that I hadn't know until then, which serves the msot delicious non-alcoholic cocktails. YUM!)

Actually it's quite beautiful weather here: a mostly blue sky, the sun shining merrily down on it all, and the temperature steadily rising (though still on the cold side). And tomorrow it'll be 23 degrees celcius! :)

:D The soylent green one had me snickering for entirely too long. I don't knw what I'd want for my epitath, but I *definatly* want someone to play "Another One Bites the Dust" at my wake.

Hey, that's essentially what I have, except I had to get all of mine seperately... And I had to pay for it... D'oh! :) (Well, actually, as it was a gift I didn't but you know what I mean)
That's really cool though! And the memory cards are the cheapest part, so that's not too bad. :D
