Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'

Re: A Forum 9 Trustee Territory (Rook & Aan`allein)

tee hee. Well, Rooklius, the secretive engineer. Have they shot down the  Supersonic Cruiser yet? Or are you still working on that one?

Btw, I don't have any practical media skills yet.  Next semester -- which starts quite soon -- I hope to get a place in one of the TV or radio courses. But I can tell you quite a bit about the constructivist communication theory ! Hm, and I learned a lot about how evil Microsoft really is (TCPA!!! EULA!) in my Copyright/Copyleft seminary. But I've only been here since November, so I'm kinda green yet and can't tell you aynthing interesting...

Yes, sadly, the Sonic Cruiser ... is dead.  *sheds a single, solitary tear, rolling down my cheek, until it drips the ground, then disappears into an orange mist of evil steam*

TV and Radio, eh?  Cool.  I had a cousin in the Philippines who worked as a cameraman during his "uni" days for one of the variety shows.  Then he quit that to become an architect.  THE FOOL!  Though designing buildings is cool too, I guess... :P

Re: A Forum 9 Trustee Territory (Rook & Aan`allein)

Hmm.. studying architecture would only mean 'to become even *more* unemployed'...
well, my uni is especially  tuned to TV. And you know what? I don't give a damn about TV. We have a list of about 20-30 'mandatory films' that everyone is supposed to have seen... hehe. Guess how many I know.

I know I'm lame, but the internet is my thingy, really. But then, maybe I'll get into our uni-sopa-opera team and find out that working in Continuity can be fun ;)? who knows...

Re: A Forum 9 Trustee Territory (Rook & Aan`allein)

Segways are a kind of motorised one person transport. Find one of the links to a site with more about them.

Sluggy is an on-line comic. It is really good. There is an evil bunny, a girl that changes into a camel, and a guy who invents crazy stuff that usually doesn't really work as intended. And that is only a tiny part of the crew.

I think the Segway Corporation should give us a healthy advertising stipend. :)

Re: A Forum 9 Trustee Territory (Rook & Aan`allein)

That would rule! People would only see segways piloting themselves around. You could get a big group of segways together and do formations. Or, you could make someone take a nap, and then when they woke up they would think they were on "Planet of the Segways" and freak out. "You maniacs! Damn you all to hell!" *sound of small motors revving*

Re: A Forum 9 Trustee Territory (Rook & Aan`allein)

I wonder if "segway" is supposed to be a play on words? Like you're segueing between walking and a car? Okay that's probably entirely wrong, and they're just named after their inventor Joe Segway or something.

Re: A Forum 9 Trustee Territory (Rook & Aan`allein)

nah, the inventor was Dean Kamen, though both "Deanway" and "Kamenway" are utterly and irrevocably lame.

It's probably "S.E.G.way" as in "Satan's Electric Generator Way" or something. :)

btw, Aan has suddenly got all mysterious and stuff.

oooooo....

Re: A Forum 9 Trustee Territory (Rook & Aan`allein)

He has become mysterious.  I wonder...

...also: yes, Segway is a pun, between 'segue' (a smooth transition to the side :) and 'seg. [segregated] way', because it's one-person transportation.  Very clever.

Oh my God!  Segway can be translated as "Segregated Way"?

Why does that sound like a slogan for White supremacists? :P

Re: A Forum 9 Trustee Territory (Rook & Aan`allein)

Because it *is* a White Supremicist slogan. The segway is obviously an Aryan Nation plot to show that the aryan race has evolved so far beyond the inferior races that they have wheels attached to their feet; proving their superiority and favor in the Lord's eyes.

...I'm disturbed I even know enough about the WS movement to do *that* bad a parody.

MUAHUAHAHAHAHAAAA!

I'm calling this Monday Night Rant numbers 40 through 49. Rook, kindly update your sig as such. ^_^

I feel the quality of writing is somewhat below par for a lot of it, but the sheer quantity... *grins broadly* 'sides, doing heavy editing on it would take me another month or two, and surely that can't be the way to go.
