Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

Re: Idiot

and @Budamax
Do you think it would be possible to make the second CD to Mp3, too (before christmas)? If yes, that would truly be great!!

Re: Idiot

*uhm* sorry *g*

I didn't want to sound demanding! It's just that ... you know, if there's a slight chance to get the second CD before christmas, that would be SUPERB! But if it's not possible, that would be superb, too, because I'm not in the position to demand anything. To be honest, I'm more than glad that I was able to download the first CD - great job!! :-)

Sorry I've not had a chance to get back to this yet. I dug up the tape, but the sleeve wasn't in it. (Can't remember why, now.) Anyway, I know the sleeve's around here somewhere *moves files around on desk* but it's going to take me a little longer to find it.

*keeps digging & muttering*

Re: Idiot

Couldn't wait any longer for the official covers, 'cos I'll have to wrap up the christmas gifts, so I made a cover myself.

You can find the front- and backcover here, if you like to use them, too:
http://www.delamitri.de/temp/idiot_frontjpg.jpg  http://www.delamitri.de/temp/idiot_back.jpg

BTW, I didn't know the arrangement of the songs, so I just put them together without order (just Ilsa is on No.1, cos Tad says it's the first song they perform)

Re: Idiot

@Sahi

okay, I've put them into one zip-file now which can be downloaded at:
http://www.delamitri.de/temp/idiot.zip

If that's not working, you can go directly into my temp directory at:
http://www.delamitri.de/temp

and there you'll see the file named idiot.zip. You just have to left click it, or right click and choose "save" ...

please tell me if it works now, ok? :-)

Re: Idiot

thanks, Sahi, and thanks, Rimmer :-)

Is anyone incidentally able to read german? Because I've got some more websites. I'm a hobby-writer (writing fantasy novels, two completed so far, working on two others currently), and I've got my fantasynovels completely up on my homepages (for online-reading or downloading), and my fantasy-shortstories, too.

If you like to have a look:
www.die-grenzwelt.de
(click on a part of the planet, you'll be taken to different websites then, either to the light, the shade, or the grey-zone)

and
www.roter-mond.de

well, but if you cannot speak or read german, you'll be lost there ;-)

Re: Idiot

Yikes! If I wanted to read all of that, it would take me over a year! Have you ever tried selling a story?

Re: Idiot

Well, some of my shortstories have been published yet because I sent them to a contest and they won, but I never sent a novel to a publisher. I don't know why. But the novel I'm writing at the moment, I WILL send to some publishers, because I consider it really good. Maybe I have some luck ;-)

If not, I'll just make another homepage for it and put it online *g*

Re: Idiot

I've heard some people say that you shouldn't do that before all the publishers rejected it. They said that publishers might not want to publish it if it's been online.

Anyway, good luck on your story! Let me know if it does get published!

Re: Idiot

@ Sahi

your german is better than my dutch...

ah, writing short stories... i also have that in mind, with millions of ideas, but the problem is that these ideas drift away into chaos, and a once good idea is lost because i can´t focus on the writing.

by the way, we are not going offtopic, are we ;)

Re: Idiot

thanks for writing into my guestbook :-) even if the 5 years of german don't shine completely through ... *g*

If you really like to read one of the novels, I'd recommend to not to do so, but to read the 4 shortstories (In einer Wintersnacht, In einer Herbstnacht, In einer Sommernacht,In einer Frühjahrsnacht), because I'm building my new novel upon them, which will be my best so far ... :-D

Re: Idiot

the concept of the three different worlds is very interesting. do they stand for themselves, or are there intersecting stories? (haven´t had the time to read much of it yet)

Re: Idiot

yes, there's a relation between these 3 worlds, that's the basic plot of the book.

There's these two worlds - one in the middle of the universe, been there since it's beginning and really, really old, dunked in black beneath a dying, dark sun - that's the shadowworld, Crap. At the other end of the universe, under a young, bright sun, the lightworld, Lithios. Because of the bending of the space-time, the universes end and the universes beginning lie at the same point, and so do the two planets.

And it's possible - although only in theorie at the beginning of the novel - to travel between both sides. But there's another zone, between the planets, called the grey-zone, and it's definitely a strange place.

And, being the main plot: an each world, shadow and light, there exists some strange creature which is responsible for the worlds not colliding. These creatures must never die, or both worlds will crash and be destroyed.

But there's another creature from the grey-zone, which hates everyting colorful: both light and darkness. And so it's trying to kill the seperators (this is the name of the creatures who prevent the worlds from colliding).

well, that's the main plot, basically, but there LOTS of stuff all around it ;-)
