Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

*laughs* welcome to the Xenodochium, perpetrator of the downfall of Western Civilisation!  Or at least the game-playing sections of it.

(btw, Sahi, that's the 600th post to the X.  Hurrah!)

Strawberry Pop-Tart Blow-Torches

The new Xenodochium will be up soon, but in the meanwhile here's a webpage that was last updated eight years ago.  Creating a miniature flame-thrower out of a simple toaster and breakfast treat, with illustrations.

Probably from the same kind of people that put CDs in the microwave or drop pianos onto old (but still functioning) PCs.  Yes, I know people like this in Real Life.

It's also fun to see how different the web was back in the early Nineties.  Example: "The response to my Strawberry Pop Tart article has been overwhelming. In October 1994 alone it's been accessed more than 2000 times."  Wow!  2000 times you say?  In one month?  I'm very impressed. *suppresses giggles*

She may not remember, but Sam actually gave me this link more than a year ago at the old TWMB.  Thanks Sam!

Holy Cow!! Who'd a figured an innocent looking little pop-tart could be so dangerous.  Geez! Now I know why I'm not particularly wild about them.

Perhaps I'm just dense (heh, I should preface all my posts that way) but who is the konquerer?

The 15 Hottest Sauces in the World

All the recent fieriness around Shadowmarch has reminded me of this site, purporting to contain the 15 hottest sauces known to humankind.  Some of them have the coolest names: "Crazy Jerry's Mustard Gas" (which will apparently cause nose hairs to combust if inhaled), and "Blair's Sudden Death" (which contains red habanero pods, cayenne chilies, pure pepper resin, and Siberian Ginseng.  Ouch!); some names are less than endearing.  A very interesting site nonetheless.

Oddly quiet hereabouts today....

A for-your-information post: A new Xenodochium will be up at midnight tonight (board time), with one or two surprises to go with it.

Oh, that's right, it's Valentine's Day today/morrow isn't it?  That's okay, I'll work that into the re-opening somehow.

Re: The Xenodochium (Paragon)

It looks like quite a few of the old closed Neighbourhood topics are still around on page 2 anyway; I doubt that there are so many Neighbourhood topics as to take up a whole heap of server space (I'm wondering whether Tad anticipated a few hundred of them, which is why he suggested that old ones be deleted).  In any case, preparations are being made...
