Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

Re: Any other UK Fans

No chance.  We haven't got a chance against the New Zealanders OR the Canadians.  I think we'll just have to settle for European domination.  As Isreal competes in the Eurovision Song Contest now, can we include the Middle East in our domination?  I wonder if we could get as far west as Siberia ... too Asian?  Am I pushing it here?  Well, worth considering for later.

Hundreds of thousands of readers in the UK, and the only ones I really know well like to carve Pineapp-o-lanterns.  No wonder I am busy developing The Weirdest Career in Fantasy Fiction...

I'm in N.Ireland, which is still *technically* the UK, even if UK signing tours don't include us *sigh*

Does the bitterness show? :)

Come to Ireland Tad! :)

Re: Any other UK Fans

Pineapple lanterns? What is it with fantasy/sf people and pineapples? We ritually sacrifice one whenever we elect a new president - their first duty, to attempt to cleave it cleanly in half... (always amusing to watch!) It is then consumed by the society (or at least those members who like pineapple).

Oh yeah, I'm from the UK too. :)

Re: Any other UK Fans

Take heart Ian, it could be worse ::whispers:: Milton Keynes....

I only visited to go to the Ozzfest the other weekend, but I could feel it draining my life force all day....

Anyway.

Never fear, I am here! Nottingham born and bred, but always a Northener at heart :D Can't beat that Yorkshire air :)

And then there were eight...

I'm afraid my opinions on London weather were coloured by my first visit. Do you always get it that bad off the Channel? :-)

Re: Any other UK Fans

wildekitten, I'm here and you're not being completely honest, are you??? ;o)

Simon, London is a large grey lump someone else had, but didn't want.  And they put it down somewhere.  And left it there.  :O)  Except for my river, which I really like (now that they're getting the polution out).  And the green bits, but they're too few and far between (Yes, even Hyde park).

Ian, I could carry the cynical mood forward, but I'll keep myself nice and just say:  mostly.

And I think wildekitten finally takes us into double figures too.

Re: Any other UK Fans

Don't forget yours truly.  I may not have been born there, but I lived there, I married one, and my kids are both halfsies.

And I happen to love London.  Okay, it's not the kind of place to live unless you like it a bit dark and a bit cold and a bit dank.  But by God it's a great city in a million other ways.

Re: Any other UK Fans

Tad! Almost forgot - have you read Mother London and King of the City?

I don't think I could live in London. I can just about stand living in a town. Visit, yes - live there, no. That said, if I'm to get the support I need for the Asperger's, it's probably going to be unavoidable - London's the only area the Asperger Society has any real power in.
