Re: The Witchwood Crown: Reviews and Reactions

I finished today. Goodreads.

Not sure what to say that is non-spoilery as even the identities of the characters is fairly spoilery. I guess everyone knows Simon and Miri are in the book. They are certainly written like people in their fifties which on the one hand well-done writer, but on the other hand it didn't endear me to them. Also, whenever they talked about the past it was, with one notable exception, about MS&T which seemed a little weird. The very last Norn POV I was starting to think we weren't going to get back to that POV this book which would have been rather cruel. I can't wait until the book is out proper and we can all discuss it in depth.

Re: The Witchwood Crown: Reviews and Reactions

Good review!

Also:

Strange Country review of TWC (very favorable).

TWC has been added to Kirkus Reviews' list of Summer Reading Recommendations.

Fantasy Faction is re-reading MS&T in preparation for reading TWC ARC. Their review of MS&T is very positive.

Barnes and Noble is pre-selling autographed copies of TWC for $20.37. Not sure why that's the number they chose.

Strange Country is a newbie Smarcher - awesome review, indeed. I especially loved the poem quote.

Re: The Witchwood Crown: Reviews and Reactions

I finished The Heart of What Was Lost two days ago and am finally reading The Witchwood Crown! Am enjoying it very much and waiting to see all the creative directions the story goes in!

It's truly an uncorrected proof, though: I've found an average of at least one typo per chapter in the first four chapters alone--can I hope that these have been fixed for the official publication?

Re: The Witchwood Crown: Reviews and Reactions

Yes, we sent in scads of fixes. Some were typos; others were more substantive.

Re: The Witchwood Crown: Reviews and Reactions

I hope so. I was more in the content fixes department but remember quite a few typos from the ARC. You never get them all but there certainly will be less ...

Re: The Witchwood Crown: Reviews and Reactions

I don't recall seeing more than one or two from my digital ARC from early May, but it seems like people have gotten different ARCs depending on how you're getting them; I'm assuming the physical ones may all be from one single print, parceled out over the last few months in giveaways, while obviously the e-books can be updated to the most recent edition very simply.

Makes sense. The physical ARCs had to have been printed in January.

Re: The Witchwood Crown: Reviews and Reactions

I've found about 15 typos in the first five chapters alone, mostly missing letters and words, a few dubiously-placed commas, and one logical error where it said "months" but seemed to mean "weeks." These are the kind of errors that are easy to miss because the brain fills in the missing words or letters.

Also, misspellings in obscure Tad-names sometimes jump out at me. I just KNOW that there should be 2 n's at the end of Llythinn. And Ingadaris has only one r.

I can't see it. Did you crossblog it on wordpress or what? If you pm the text I will put in on the site. What do you want as author credit? Kenan? RL-name? Something else?
