Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

I spent the evening with David Bowie, watching the documentary The Last 5 Years. It wasn't a great documentary I think, but decent enough.

A new Bowie documentary??? Awesome.

Well, they probably don't feel things the same way we do. But there is enough evidence that they do perceive their environment and react to it/to things that happen to them, so I suppose they must process that information in some way.

And unless we turn ourselves into plants, we can't survive without something else dying for us. (Well. There is a thing called frutarianism, but that doesn't sound very healthy. And kind of crazy.) I don't feel guilty about eating anything, but I think it's good to remember that what we eat was a living creature.

Re: QM - The Heart Of What Is Silly

Productive little day... Made reviews for HOWWL, and then decided to update my (long ago created) Flickr account... But that's now owned by yahoo and couldn't log in, didn't want to yahoo it... So created a new profile on 500px and now overwhelmed by the responses... Still trying to figure out how to share the link...

Re: QM - The Heart Of What Is Silly

I'm sorting through a bunch of castle photos for a new blogpost. I had blogged about the Weidelsburg (Burg = castle) before, but at the time I visited the place, the western  keep had been scaffolded in and the zwinger was full of brambles and closed off. They've meanwhile cleared the mess and repaired the keep, so I went beck last summer and took new photos. Now I need to get some of them on my blog.

I have too many castle photos anyway. ;-) It usually takes me some time to blog about the places because I have to do some research about the history of the castles. After I found out my blog often pops up high on Goolge for English essays about German castles, I feel responsible to do a better job than Wikipedia, and me a historian as well. :-)

Do you blog specifically about castles?

Castles feature quite prominently on my blog, but I post about Mediaeval and Roman history overall, and sometimes also about other times when I visited some interesting place. I also photograph a lot of pretty landscapes and geological stuff.

I have a ton of photos about churches and cathedrals as well, but somehow I post about those less frequently, though I do have some pretty church pics on my blog as well: http://lostfort.blogspot.com

So the preorder prize for tWC dropped from £20 to £13 on Amazon UK, and I couldn't resist, even though it's almost half a year away. I just hope I remember that I've ordered it for the next 5 months :)

I did not realise how hungry I was until I started making food - and then I could hardly wait until it was done.

I suspect mine have hot book smoochies at night and that's where all those cute little paperbacks come from.

It has nothing to do with my Amazon account, really. ;-)
