Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

Yes. Ours is a heavy burden to bear, but bear it we must... ;)

Time for updated pictures as well!

Once I get a system that works, shelfies will be updated and posted here, for sure!

I might wait for my matching SOF and TGAT, so they can all be housed together. It wouldn't be right to put DBC on one shelf, and be forced to have SOF and TGAT on a different shelf. Madness!

Definitely time for some rearranging here, too. And I either have to get rid of some books or get a new bookcase.

Get rid of books? Bite your tongue! ;)

Only the really awful ones. Like those... what are they called, Hel's Crucible? Which I'm still reading just to make fun of it.

I'm definitely enjoying your riffing of Hel's Crucible; it's like reading Mystery Science Theater.

Or win the lottery and get a really big apartment (or house) with space for plenty of books.
It's a bit of desperate plan, but... books.

I could find space for another one. Although I really like being able to see my walls, too.

Especially since you painted them so nicely :/
It might also feel cramped, which isn't great.

Walls?  Ah, I dimly remember: those structures behind the bookshelves.

I can't take credit for that one; it's already a thing in the Muggle world.

I know we have a long tradition of burning Mints down, but have we ever considered destroying them in other ways?  Flood, earthquake, fed to giant carpenter ants?

AfaIk there is no rule that a Mint has to be burnt. Whatever means of destruction the last poster deems appropriate is fine.

Re: QM - The Sheila Gilbert Party Mint

I guess the conflagration precedent was set by Tad in his short story, so burnings are the traditional way to go.

Re: QM - The Sheila Gilbert Party Mint

I'm definitely a bit burnt now... 32 degrees Celsius is quite exceptional in the Netherlands. We managed to hike 16 km before lunch. (And lunch wasn't even very late...) We did change the route a bit so we didn't have to cross the heather field.
