Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'

QM - California

I want my vacation to last, so I force it on you all. Because this is what I can do.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!

We've been on the run
Driving in the sun
Looking out for number 1
California here we come
Right back where we started from

Hustlers grab your guns
Your shadow weighs a ton
Driving down the 101
California here we come
Right back where we started from

California!
Here we come!

On the stereo
Listen as we go
Nothing's gonna stop me now
California here we come
Right back where we started from
Pedal to the floor
Thinkin' of the roar
Gotta get us to the show
California here we come
Right back where we started from

California!
Here we come!

You know, giving it second thoughts I'll go for Deornoth jr. He is a real badass and I always wanted a younger lover. So we're all good after all.

Oh, you are making a wedding kimono? I would love to see that! Are you making a new doll, or is this for your Jiriki BJD? (I just ask because I thought Uchikake are made for women.)

No, the Uchikake is not meant for Jiriki but for her - although being the femine guy he is, I guess Jiriki could wear it as well *giggles*

If you like, I can post progress shots  (^____^)

Your Jiriki doll looks very pretty, too. I think you did a very good job with the hair and those detailed clothes. :)

Awwww...thanks. I hope I will be able to make clothes for him myself soon but I just started with my sewing lessons - the Uchikake will be my very first doll garment *is nervous*

Re: QM - California

Any interesting women in the new books? I am pretty sure the male (heterosexual) readers had to deal with a slightly smaller selection of characters and Aditu is getting all the attention as a result.

You do not need a sun blocker if you you visit SF. Sun is a myth there and the fog even has its own twitter account.

Tad managed to kill off the first sitha lady in the prolog. I guess Aditu is due for even more attention ;)

And giving it more thought there are new women a plenty. Not all utterly interesting in my book but certainly a much wider range than in MST.

Excellent. I started that topic, though I was not the one to coin the term.
I think I had it in mind though, even before someone else spelled it out.

Depends on whether you consider 13°C as freezing or not. I do at this time of year.

Looks like we have about the same temperature. I think the highest today was 14, which is highly unfair.

well, I prefer 13°C to 40°C but for August a few degrees more would be nice - this way you could eat ice cream without shattering teeth...*brrrr*

Whom did we have in MS&T?

MS&T spoilers ahead
MS&T spoilers ahead
MS&T spoilers ahead
MS&T spoilers ahead
MS&T spoilers ahead

Aditu, obviously, the flirty Sitha.
Miriamele, who has quite a temper and is very, very young.
Maegwin, who seems quite nice, but loses her mind.
Vorzheva, who has a... well, temper doesn't even begin to describe it. Good for her, but I'd rather be on the other side of the planet.
Sisquinanamook from the not troll faction.
Likimeya. Not just a temper, she'll murder humans if she can.

Lots of interesting, but older characters, such as Geloe, Gutrun and the various Sithi & Norn elders.

I guess there are actually plenty of strong, interesting female characters, just very few in the 20-40 range, while most of the male main characters seem to be around that age (Simon being younger and Isgrimnur much older).

And Tad seems to like a lot of temper on his female protagonists, maybe more so than on the male ones.

Re: QM - California

I think here the weather should be back to normal starting tomorrow. I still prefer this summer to the last one with several weeks of 35°C and up.

It's certainly easier to keep plants alive this year. But I miss swimming.

Re: QM - California

I guess the weeks where the weather was perfect for swimming were those you had to spend on studying :/ . I hope you get a couple more really nice days to spend at the lake.

Re: QM - California

Despite the not too hot weather, yesterday was the first day for 3 months that it felt cool enough in the apartment to take a hot bath.

Was hoping to relax my back a bit, but that didn't work out.

But hot bath's are nice, especially because I get to focus on reading.

That's true, but it's not as good for my (mental) health as swimming is.

Still doesn't look like it's going to be warm enough for swimming next week, but it should at least be nice enough for some cycling. That's good too.
