Castlefest 2017

Since the 2016 edition is over, it's high time to start planning the next one!

There's a whole list of things we should do before then to improve our current costumes and attributes, and also a whole new costume to plan. I think we should discuss the latter over at chez Blue Tailor.

For my wicked tribe costume, I'm planning to get a new staff, add bells to the monkeys, attach monkeys to my belt, and knit/crochet monkey ears to attach to my helmet.

Re: Castlefest 2017

I keep planning to post here, but always get distracted.

Things I need to do:

- fix/remake the Yásira skirt, with a proper hem, and buttons for attaching it to the dress, and an elastic band in the waistband, and put the butterflies on so they don't keep falling off

- make new/better belt pouches for the witch costume

Basically, I'm Prince Josua in jeans and sneakers, or a different flavor of Renie Sulaweyo.

Re: Castlefest 2017

Maybe you can have a Discworld wizard hat style witch hat? One with hundreds of pockets?

Re: Castlefest 2017

Having the pouches on the belt isn't the problem. The problem is just that they were done very last-minute, the first time I needed that costume (for a dance performance) and there's a big risk of stuff falling out.

(Though that sounds like an awesome hat.)

Why were we talking about glow in the dark paint, again?

Re: Castlefest 2017

Thanks for taking and posting pictures, Magpie :)

The GAT costume looks even cuter when sitting. Suddenly those walls seem a lot bigger!

Nice pictures, Magpie! Looks like you all had a lot of fun. :)

I think you all did a good job with your costumes. It is actually cool to see some self-created stuff. I mean, especially Sahi must have attracted a lot attention with her jumping stilts! And Xavie's idea to dress as a building is very cool. It really turned out cute.

I was assuming we'd do both - I mean, we have three days.

Re: Castlefest 2017

Yup, I'll go as Wiked Tribe on Friday. And we're still planning on the element costumes, as far as I'm concerned.

Who was that robot from Otherland again? T4b?

Maybe not the greatest idea, I just had the idea of an Uduntree costume. Would look more like a tree than a waterfall of course...

Re: Castlefest 2017

Yep, T4b was the "robot". I guess the fiery madmen from MS&T would work well for Libra, but even fans of the series would be hard pressed to recognise them.

You were talking about being the breakfast from Treehouse for a while. ;)

Hahaha... I did talk about the breakfast... However I don't think it would a lot of sense!!!!

The Uduntree... Darn now I have to look that up again!!!

Well, I just thought that an ice related costume would be a good contrast to your fire costume, when you guys are going as the elements. But this might be hard to realize. Apparently my memories about that were wrong, as I thought it actually was a tree and not a tree-shaped frozen waterfall (I really have to re-read the series!). Maybe we have to think about something more iconic in terms of the Tad books. :)

Re: Castlefest 2017

Something more iconic, huh? You could go as one of the three swords. Or as all of them. Or as Geloe, all witchy and mysterious (you could try Peter's hat pockets idea).
