Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

Cumbersome, yes. Heavy, not so much. We just shoved it on the back seat of the car and stabilized it with seat belts. And except for the short bits to and from the car (less than 10 meters) I could just roll it.

Ducks now have ramps

If you scroll part way down, there's a video of some ducklings using the ramp! With cute little peeping sounds and everything :)

Re: Smarch happy news station

Good news, huh? *Good* news?

Well, because of adult things spouse and I did 12 and 3 years ago, I will be paying off our mortgage and car loan in the next few weeks.

(and here's where I turn into everyone's annoyingly matter-of-fact aunt)

Please get with a lawyer or a do-it-yourself form off the internet and write a will. Talk with someone you trust about getting life insurance, and then sign up for some. The policy we had cost us $46/ month for the two of us.
Study your finances and start saving *now* for retirement.

The good news: Get your ducks in a row now and it won't hurt so much later when you really, really need it. That's the Good News.

After six and a half years, my brother's cardigan is finally finished. I hope it fits!

I was just wondering earlier how long you've been working on it! But I didn't think it had been that long!

Re: Smarch happy news station

No pictures yet, but I will take pictures of my brother wearing it!

And I was almost surprised it hadn't been longer! (I had to look it up in the archives.)

Re: Smarch happy news station

Omg you guys.

Last month was open enrollment for insurances at my work. I was a little bummed because the equivalent plan was going to go up in price. Not much, about $5 a week.

But. Yesterday at my therapy appointment, my dr said "Hey, your insurance company came back and said that there is no copay on your plan." Uh, what? For real? So I called them today to triple check. Turns out under my plan, there is a specific category for billing for mental health services. It all used to fall under "specialist" but now it's separate. And they have a program set up where if your provider is participating, you're eligible for a $0 copay.

So I get to spend a few bucks extra each week, to save 8 times that.
