Re: WorldCon 2017 in Helsinki

Hmm. One the one hand, a day to relax in between sounds tempting. But on the other hand, more time to see stuff in Finland, which I haven't been to before.

I'd rather fly back on Monday than Sunday. Or maybe even stay a few extra days and see more stuff, although that's difficult to plan so far in advance when I don't yet know how much time I will be able to take off work.

Re: WorldCon 2017 in Helsinki

I have been told I can take that time on holiday... Sooooo... I'm coming!!!!!

*bounced up and down excitedly*

I would love some extra days in Helsinki... Only worry is that other than the flight NL - Helsinki I can't book anything yet because I do not know where I will be coming from, not where I'll be going to.... Due to the current weirdness of work....

*still bounces*

Re: WorldCon 2017 in Helsinki

Well I could just book us some hotel rooms for Monday August 7 - Monday August 14, and we'll see what we'll do beyond that?

Re: WorldCon 2017 in Helsinki

So that now makes four of us, and another friend of mine, five in total. Let me see what I can find. I think we'll have to split up over multiple rooms.

Too bad holiday homes are never in the city center, it would be awesome to just have a whole house to ourselves.

Re: WorldCon 2017 in Helsinki

What kind of budgets should I be looking at? (i.e. what is your total budget for the hotel for a week) Would 500 Euro per person be too much? And is half an hour of traveling to the conference too much? I've found a six person apartment at 5 km from the conference. (I've made a reservation, but I can cancel it free of charge.)

Check airbnb!! They usually have full homes in the city centers... And as we're five people it's safe to go for it!! Might be nice as we'll be able to cook for ourselves!!

Sahi, I never have any idea what to expect to pay for hotels, so I don't really have a budget.

Re: WorldCon 2017 in Helsinki

As I said, I can easily cancel this. But as there was only one, I thought I'd book it, so we wouldn't loose the chance. If anyone sees anything nicer on AirBnB, let me know.
