Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

Dear lord that is many. Many pages is what that is. Assuming 320 words per page (which is a figure that I basically just made up from how I format my documents) that's... many words. Many, many words. (224,000 actually)

So that's getting close to a Tad-sized book. :)

But if you remove all the "and", "the" and "is", is there much left? :-)

Re: The Last King of Osten Ard FAQ

The rest of life has been a bit chaotic and crappy lately, what with all the serious pet illnesses (fortunately everyone okay) and such, but at least I'm writing. I think because I'm coming to the end of the first volume, which was a bit planned already, I'm getting on with things at a very good clip. I'll crest 800 pages this weekend, I think, God willing and the river don't rise. (Or gully-cataract, in our case, which is certainly roaring most fiercely.)

The writing in question is WITCHWOOD CROWN, by the way, the first of the new Osten Ard books. (For those of you not keeping score.)

Re: The Last King of Osten Ard FAQ

Well, done Ylvs!

However, that first post is getting awfully long. Maybe we should have a separate thread for the progress report?

Re: The Last King of Osten Ard FAQ

Created a second separate thread for Tad´s progress reports and removed said reports from first post of this thread. Link is provided to new thread. Should make it easier for people to find stuff.

Re: The Last King of Osten Ard FAQ

Here's my Q for the FAQ: What will be the name of the inevitable (I hope) fourth instalment of TLK? Do you think it will just be The Navigator's Children pt 2 or something more unique?! *fingers quadruple crossed*

Hee!

Wouldn't something after children be grandchildren? So it could be The Navigator's Grandchildren.

Or, they could divide it based on race: The Navigator's Children, part 1: The Niskies and The Navigator's Children, part 2: The Dwarrows. Or Children of the Ocean and Children of Stone.

Great minds think alike!

But your other suggestions are much better!

Well, I have no more good ideas. But here are more ideas anyway:

They could call them The Navigator's Children: Siege and The Navigator's Children: Storm.

They could do a wraparound cover, where the first volume is titled The Navigator and the second volume is called 's Children.

Or, they could break it down by child. Unfortunately, we don't know the names of his kids, if he indeed had any, vague "Ruyan's Own" references notwithstanding.

I vote for Vicky, Larissa and Bartholomew. Although that would make three volumes. Hmmm

Hee! But those names don't seem very Tinukeda'ya-y, in truth. Even though Larissa was a nymph in Greek mythology.

Re: The Last King of Osten Ard FAQ

Hi Olaf! You might want to update the first post. Most importantly with the title change of "heart of regret" and second the publication date of tWC (you mention spring 2017).
Also, is it time to add The Shadow of Things to Come to the information here?
Cheers!
