Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

Re: Past Publications 2014

Updated first post with a new category for audiobooks and its first entry. Tad`s short story "Every Fuzzy Beast of the Earth, Every Pink Fowl of the Air" will be published in the audio anthology Rip-Off edited by Gardner Dozois in August together with 12 other stories. This anthology is audio only. It has been previously released on Audible, but this is the first physical edition.

Description:
In Rip-Off!, 13 of today's best and most honored writers of speculative fiction face a challenge even they would be hard-pressed to conceive: Pick your favorite opening line from a classic piece of fiction (or even non-fiction) - then use it as the first sentence of an entirely original short story.

In the world of Rip-Off!, "Call me Ishmael" introduces a tough-as-nails private eye - who carries a harpoon; The Wonderful Wizard of Oz inspires the tale of an aging female astronaut who's being treated by a doctor named Dorothy Gale; and Huckleberry Finn leads to a wild ride with a foul-mouthed riverboat captain who plies the waters of Hell.

Once you listen to Rip-Off! you'll agree: If Shakespeare or Dickens were alive today, they'd be ripping off the authors in this great collection.

The stories included in Rip-Off! are:

    "Fireborn" by Robert Charles Wilson
"The Evening Line" by Mike Resnick
"No Decent Patrimony" by Elizabeth Bear
"The Big Whale" by Allen M. Steele
    "Begone" by Daryl Gregory
"The Red Menace" by Lavie Tidhar
"Muse of Fire" by John Scalzi
    "Writer's Block" by Nancy Kress
    "Highland Reel" by Jack Campbell
"Karin Coxswain or Death as She Is Truly Lived" by Paul Di Filippo
"The Lady Astronaut of Mars" by Mary Robinette Kowal
"Every Fuzzy Beast of the Earth, Every Pink Fowl of the Air" by Tad Williams
    "Declaration" by James Patrick Kelly

As a bonus, the authors introduce their stories, explaining what they ripped-off - and why.

Rip-Off! was produced in partnership with SFWA - Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America. Gardner Dozois served as project editor.

The full list of narrators includes: Wil Wheaton, Scott Brick, Christian Rummel, Jonathan Davis, Khristine Hvam, L.J. Ganser

Added new date for Spanish Shadowheart. May 16th, 2014.

Also did a bigger update to my own TW bibliography site:

Especially to the subsites about TDSO and HHiH where I added new review links and new cover art to the galleries.

Oh Amazon UK had an April 1 release date, but now they say it will dispatch on April 5.
Guess I'll have to wait a little longer.

Re: Past Publications 2014

Offical date for TVBOTW is May 16th, but the book starts shipping at the end of April, so it might arrive one or two weeks earlier. I plan to do a review and have started reading two of the stories again today. I am doing one or two stories a day, so that may review can go up as soon as the book hits the shelves:-)

Update:

Took out fall 2015 date for Bobby#4 (as that now seems unlikely since Tad said he wants to finish LK#1 first before he tackles Bobby#4)

Added that LK#1 is the current work in progress
