Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

Re: Past Publications 2013

The Very Best of Tad Williams

by Tad Williams

This career retrospective from one of the most-beloved authors in the fantasy genre is essential for fans of his internationally bestselling series novels (Otherland; Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn).

Tad Williams has achieved success in multiple genres and forms, whether in epic fantasy, urban fantasy, science fiction, or young adult fiction. Readers only familiar with his masterpieces such as The Dragonbone Chair and Tailchaser’s Song will be delighted to discover that in his short fiction, Williams has been able to explore myriad new possibilities and adventures.

Previously collected in multi-author anthologies and limited hardcover editions, these superlative tales of dragons, super-soldiers, wizards, cyberpunks, heroes, and fools, are now available together for the first time in an affordable trade paperback edition. These stories showcase the exhilarating breadth of Williams’ imagination, in stories hearkening to the tales of such classic fantasists as J. R. R. Tolkien, Robert Jordan, Ray Bradbury, and Peter S. Beagle. Included is an original tale written specifically for this volume.

The Very Best of Tad Williams is a true delight to those who have imagined themselves in fantastic worlds beyond the everyday and mundane.

It looks as though you can get a print edition... a few months later... and it's $35.39. Yikes! print page for Arc 1.4 (an earlier edition)

(sort of a weird price, too.)

And the story is bound to be reprinted in a Tad collectioon sometime down the road.

Re: Past Publications 2013

The new story that's going to appear in the Tachyon collection is called "Omnitron, What Ho!"  As you might guess from the title, it's a PG Wodehouse pastiche.  As a lifelong Wodehouse fan, I had great fun writing it.

If the only way that "The Narrow Road" is available in hardcopy is a 35 dollar printed copy of the magazine, I'll make sure and find a way to republish it (whenever it's legally possible) in a more affordable format.

This is a good suggestion, Olaf, but I like paper books, and my collection is physical rather than electronic.

True. Still, it'd be nice to have.

Ooh! Sounds related to Arizona! I'll definitely get that one. (Not to mention Raj's story!)
