Re: QM - the mad office
*peeks in*
Spent all day watching Lost season 1 due to being ill. Feeling better now, but still not great.
And my mystery package still hasn't arrived.

Re: QM - the mad office
*sends healing vibes to Sahi* I loved the first season of Lost. Got bored and confused somewhere in season four I think and did not bother to finish watching ...
Important day for the family. Medea finished primary school (and had the best school certificate of the whole school - I am kinda proud!) and Freya finished kindergarden. So everything will be shiny and new after summer vacation. I shed some tears saying Good bye to Kindergarden. After all It as a second home for parts of the family for eight year. I grew really fond of some people working there ... We'll still see them though as the girls still go to ballett classes ... but it won't be the same ...
We just arrived in Berlin. Had hoped to cheer for the Europpean Football finals on sunday but Germany lost the semifinal yesterday. Against Italy. Germany never won against Italy ... kind of a curse it seems ... We'll still have Lasagne for dinner though ...

Re: QM - the mad office
Hot day today, but it didn't seem so bad to me. Maybe because I was still so happy to have my rucksack back. And after work, I went and bought more plants (yes, I'm crazy). And I might go back for ANOTHER passion flower tomorrow, if the big ones are really also at half price (the employee I talked to today wasn't sure).

Re: QM - the mad office
Been an interesting day at work... had to get frumpy at a couple people for not correctly using the time clock. Did extra billing as it's the end of the month. Found out about a huge oversight made by our sales dept (basically they won a HUGE bid, and didn't bother to consider that we have these things called "credit limits" with some of our vendors, so they will only let us buy so much...)
I'm proud of myself. I'm wearing shorts! In public! See, I'm usually really incredibly self-conscious about my thighs... I feel like they're big, and I have slight (they used to be worse) stretch marks on the inside that I would worry about people seeing, I'd worry about the shorts being TOO short and riding up or sitting funny, all kinds of things. But I actually feel comfortable enough with myself now to wear them out where other people are. So, yay! Personal improvements :)
Also, I had another motivation for the shorts... it's hot outside. lol

Indeed, yay for personal improvements Ad1tu! Especially considered that probbly the only person who notices your "personal faults" are yourself. Nobody ever whatches you so attentively as you do yourself. Having said that I wish I could heed my own advice. I know that this is true but still find it extremely difficult to live by it.

Wow, that sounds awesome! And that means it's only 2 blocks from a BART station.

Too bloody hot. I've only watered my balcony and made a short trip to the grocery store (OK, and garden centre - I needed one of those half-price passionflowers!) and I'm already soaked in sweat. And I was assuming we'd go to the lake today, but now we might not.

OK, we're going after all. At least I had time to water all my plants and clean a bit - I hate leaving my home a mess when I'm going away on a trip.

Thanks for the vibes, ylvs. They must have helped, as I can eat normally again today. No more cramps either.

Great Sahi!
I am at the famliy celebration of the two nieces and one nephew in law who just graduated from high school. The were the first babies I carried around back in the days and now they're young shiny and promising adults - how time flies by! Around tomorrow it'll be my girls ...

Quite right but I refuse to complain yet. It took so long for summer to arrive this year so I enjoy the heat I normally despise ...

Re: QM - the mad office
Had a lovely, lovely lazy weekend. My aunt and uncle own a tiny bit of land right at the lakeshore - less than 100 m², I think, but that's quite enough to spread a few towels and store their boat - so we spent most of the weekend there, swimming and napping. And the lake was sooo lovely - warm enough that it was easy to get into the water, but still cool enough to be refreshing. We had to leave a little earlier than we'd have liked, though, because a thunderstorm was coming up.

Re: QM - the mad office
The brotherbeastie is turning 18 tomorrow. Last Monday, he finished his apprenticeship, and now he's actually an adult as well? And my other brother is turning 24 in a few days - how can they do that when they still look like this in my head? I haven't even quite gotten used to being an adult myself, even though I've been one for over seven years now... a part of me insists I'm still about 15.

Oops. Spotted. I thought I could keep on lurking.
Home in Germany for the summer vacation now. So much better weather here, the heat and humidity over the last weeks in Taiwan gave me a permanent headache.

Re: QM - the mad office
Fun weekend. Hung out with coworkers, holy sh*t! For all the times I say that I all work with are stupid people, it's kinda weird for me to say that lol. Didn't hang out with the stupid ones though! Boss has a ginormous house with a nice pool in the backyard + patio/deck area.. we got invited over, coworker J got stranded there as child needed to have the car for the day for work, and coworker R came over later in the day after doing stuff around the house. I got some interesting sunburn... Right on my chest, that weird side-boob area that pops out the side of my swimsuit (no matter what type of suit I get!), and high on my thigh / hip area where I missed sunblocking due to having shorts on when I sunblocked. After swimmins we cooked up some steaks, had those, and then boogied for the night. Then Sunday I went and got my car detailed... it's all shiny again! It's a happy car :)
Still warm weather here, but not totally unbearable. Looks like it'll be good weather for Wednesday, too, which is a holiday, so I'm gonna get paid to eat pulled pork & corn on the cob! Wooooo I like holidays now that I have a big kid job lol

Re: QM - the mad office
Did I ever mention that last week, I noticed a horsefly on my knee and swatted it so hard that I could still see the finger marks on my leg several days later?
And then there was this girl on the train whose instrument case cracked me up - it had a piece of paper taped to it that said, "This is a violoncello. No, it is not a contrabass, a guitar or an oversize violin. It weighs 9.4 kg. Yes, it is heavy. No, I would not rather play the recorder." I guess she's been asked those things a few times too many!

I thought the heat didn't bother me too much today - but now that I'm trying to do some work at home, yes, it is bothering me.

Re: QM - the mad office
That sounds like a fun weekend Ad1tu!
Had a great one two over in Berlin. The family party was truely nice - after almost twenty years I like most of husband's family and even the ones I could not stand back in the days turned out bearable over all thos years. A yay to longtime relationships and the benefits they bring! Well they bring loads of annoyance as well but I'm thankful for what I've got. Hm, this post was not intended to become somehow philosophical. Anyways... Played the first drinking game (with the youngsters) in surely fifteen years. It was much fun! I confess that I cheated but I did not feel like getting truly drunk. Home now, time to catch some sleep.
@Magpie: funny story again! Thumbs up.

Re: QM - the mad office
I don't like drinking games... except the one time when nobody noticed I was actually drinking juice the whole time. (Later that evening, someone called, "Pass me that bottle!", poured himself a glass and made an amusingly disgusted face when he discovered it was grape juice, not wine.)
Anyway, one plant ready to take in to work and sell tomorrow, and a dozen that should be ready to sell in about a month. I'll need to take some begonia cuttings as well, but I'll do that tomorrow... maybe.

Oog... I have the owies... new exercises take a couple weeks to get used to :P
State of California sucks... We won a big contract to sell books to their Dept of Corrections. DoC is tax exempt, so they don't have to pay sales tax. We are in a totally different state, so we don't have to collect sales tax. But because CA is just that special, they want us to fill out gobs of paperwork for exemption to this withholding tax crap, which is 7% on various services, prizes, rent, etc paid by residents or non-residents of CA. But we sell GOODS, therefore should be exempt, but we still have to fill out paperwork... ew.

Big aha moment today - chopping parsley is so much easier if I simply use a different knife. Yes, it only took me about a year to figure this out!
