Anyone else comic fans around here? The big discussion is DC's new relaunch: a reboot of all the classic characters for a new generation readers (that DC expects will be getting most of their comics via iPad nowadays).
I picked up a few titles (including Suicide Squad, former Vertigo title Animal Man, Green Lantern, and Wildstorm Jim Lee import Grifter), but the only one I've had the time to read thus far is Grant Morrison's new Action Comics.
The new title revisits Superman early on in his career before he could even fly. And was still wearing jeans, apparently. So far, it lacks Morrison's weirdo touches (which went off the rails in X-Men), and it's pretty faithful in recreating the Golden Age Superman for the modern day without being too obvious about it like, say, Geoff Johns tends to be. Also, Superman seems to be quite depowered: Luthor, who's on the side of the government, manages to take the Big Blue Boy Scout out by slamming a train into him. Action Comics is one of the few comics I've picked up religiously even pre-reboot (the all Lex Luthor run is one for the ages), and I think I'll stick around to see where Morrison takes the title.
