QM - The Neverending well
You think you step into the new mint, but as soon as your first foot is through the door, you start to fall.... and fall..... and fall.... and fall some more.... and fall.... and then some falling.... and fall.... Well, you get the point.....
The bar including drinks and tender are falling as well, somewhere over yonder *points*.... just grab a weight or a balloon (also falling) and you might be able to make it to the bar.....

I have rhubarb! Finally! I've been looking for weeks, and even though we're in the middle of rhubarb season, I couldn't find any, despite trying every store in the vicinity. And now I finally found some at the veggie stall by the strawberry field, and bought some - only to come home to find my mother had also bought me some! Didn't we just have the same thing with asparagus two weeks ago?
Well, this means my plants will need to wait for water a little longer - I must bake!

Re: QM - The Neverending well
Mmmmm! Rhubarb is just too delicious!
Now if only I had a cherry tree... cherries are another thing I miss so much, being able to stuff myself with them fresh from the tree, not having to buy them at ridiculous prices - yes, I know, they're a pain to pick, but there are so many of them. It's so silly: if you don't have a cherry tree, you have to pay crazy prices for them, and if you do have one, you'd pay money to get rid of all those cherries before they fall off the tree and rot and attract wasps... I'd rather have the mess and the wasps, though, than not have cherries at all. This time of year, sometimes I can't help but randomly scream, "I want a cherry tree!" in the middle of a totally unrelated conversation. And I don't care if it makes people stare at me, either.

I have the BEST friend.... she decided to come over and help me clear up (AKA separate junk from movable goods) my basement storage room.... I was dreading this for days.... had planned to spend tonight, tomorrow night and the rest of the week doing this.... and now... it's already done... only thing to do is bring the junk to the dump, bring the non-important-but-still-usable stuff to the aid-store and pack new boxes with the stuff I need to keep....
It's absolutely amazing!!! And I'm all happy!!

Nononono!!! Don't you do that... You're coming with me on Sat 18 to dance and that will be sooooo good, to just relax and have fun and not think about the next box and the next room!!! Just as helpful if not more!! *hugs*

Re: QM - The Neverending well
Put a deposit down for a rental appartment today in Twickenham right next to the Thames and 5 min away from the centre and station by foot.... Ahhhhh!!! This is really really happening!
Also got "rid of" the bearded dragons... they would not survive the trip. Poor beasties.... they will be joining the very diverse population of animals of a brother of a friend of mine....
And even got a reasonable offer for my car, from a dealer.... not as much as I hoped for, but better than some people told me.
All in all a good day!

Re: QM - The Neverending well
Who would have thought I would ever say I have too much rhubarb? But I do - one stalk was getting rather shrivelled, so I had to make another cake - before I had even finished eating the first one! Which is why I'm still not in bed. Also, rhubarb explosion. I totally needed that on my pretty freshly scrubbed floor.

Re: QM - The Neverending well
Of course you could also just make rhubarb compote (i.e. boil them with lots of sugar). Which you can then freeze in small portions and take out on a hot summer day. Sooo yummie! *fond memories of visits to her grandparents* I should get myself a recipe for that.

Re: QM - The Neverending well
I thought about that, but... I know that if I eat it outside the rhubarb season, it'll just make me crave mor rhubarb, and then I can't get any - better to stuff myself with it now, until I'm sick of it and won't mind not eating it for a while. I don't know how many summers I tried to make myself get sick from eating too many cherries (when we still had a garden with two cherry trees), so I wouldn't long for them all year, but it never worked. I need to ask the neighbour at work if I could get some cherries from her tree - the ladyboss said she invited her to come pick as many as she wanted, and I'm pretty sure she'd let me have some as well.

Hmm... bah humbug.... for some reason I suddenly wanted to find my first ever post in the mint... But seem to have been foiled in that attempt......

Re: QM - The Neverending well
You need one of those massive freezers, magpie! So you can freeze all those yummie summer things in large enough quantities!

Believe me, I've thought about it! But they're just too expensive to be worth buying until I have a real garden.

Re: QM - The Neverending well
I will be so not fit for human company tomorrow - I have to eat half a head of cabbage and a whole kohlrabi before they go bad, and as much as I love everything in the cabbage family, they do make me fart pretty badly (yes, I know, you all needed to know that. ;) )
Went to the strawberry field today, picked a big bowl full, so I'll probably spend half the night making jam!
