*drops into mint*
Missed a Deegec!!! *pouncyhuggles* Congrats on the addition to your family!!!
And *blushes* I'm not such a fantastic host.... Cyan's just a really easy person to have over! And a storytelling of the two weeks of europeness is indeed long overdue *grin*....
I'm a grumpy mess today... had a long week and a too long day... had big meeting this morning followed by a work bbq at which I did the photography.... but due to...eh... lady-issues I was less than fit... and workday only ended 9.5 hours after it started.... On top of this I still don't have my money back and had to borrow a couple of euros to get enough gas to reach home.... I just want to crawl in bed until the money comes back or the spring starts again....
"If you say that getting the money is the most important thing, you will spend you life completely wasting your time. You'll be doing things you don't like doing in order to go on living, that is, to go on doing things you don't like doing... which is stupid." ~ Alan Watts

Re: QM - The 80's
I wish I could sleep that long - my week wasn't as exhausting as Gen's, but still it was a week of too little sleep and three days at the potting machine - and instead of sleeping in today, I agreed to meet my best friend at 8:30 to go to the flea market.
An evening conversation this week: My mother, "You can have my Dirndl - it doesn't fit any more." Me, "OK - I'll wear it to Castlefest next year."

... and what the heck is a Dirndl anyway? I know the structure of the skirt, it's not at all complicated. I know the proportions, can replicate it in my sleep! But I apparently missed the class that explained the difference between a proper Dirndl as opposed to a simple blocky skirt. Please enlighten me?

Re: QM - The 80's
a Dirndl isn't simply a skirt, the bust is very important, too. it often has intricate embroidery on it, or is made from certain fabric(it varies regionally(some places, every village has it's own style) or wether it's festive or plain) while the skirt is rather simple. this would be one worn in the region were I grew up, it's rather plain. while [url=http://www.tradition-rainer.at/images/galerie/dirndl02.jpg]this is something different altogether.
That being said, for someone who hasn't worn a Dirndl for 20 years, I know quite a lot a about them. Auntie was a seamstress.

*hellos the Mint*
The house is still asleep. I'm waiting for coffee.
I wish I could sleep for 12 hours -- I rarely sleep more than six hours a night now. *yawn*
It used to be full light at this time of the morning.
Someday will find you.

Maen Mint!
*pounces through*
Still a bit tired. Got back from down under yesterday. But I was too tired to be bothered to turn on my computer. Still waiting for my suitcase to catch up with me. Cause I had little time in London to make my transfer flight. And while I myself barely made it, my suitcase did not. Fortunately it wasn't lost or anything, it just needed some time to catch up. (In fact I just got a call that it is now in customs here in the Netherlands.) I was ever so glad that this happened on the way home. I had packed some underwear and such in my hand baggage on the way down under, but being able to take a shower and put on clean clothes after a 24 hour flight is very nice!

Went outside for a break. The retaining pond in front (where there were pollywoggles and frogs earlier) is a-buzz with dragonflies, dancing over the water.

Wheee, I figured out the ending of my NaNo story - oddly enough, not at the second "warm-up" meeting, which was yesterday (it was nearly midnight when I got home, what fun), but at work today.

Inspiration hits us at odd times. Hopefully, we have a piece of paper to scribble it on.

Re: QM - The 80's
Luckily, I was working by myself, and there were no customers, so I could run into the shop, grab a piece of paper and scribble "the red umbrella can be a plot point!" Won't make sense for anyone else, but it's enough for me.

Re: QM - The 80's
I can't have red rain boots, tempting though they are. Would look even odder on a knight than a red umbrella!
