Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'

Re: Castlefest 2010

Yes, it's true, I'm hopping the pond and will be attending Castlefest.  I am very happy to see that Magpie will be there, I was hoping to finally meet you on this trip!

(I arrive on 29 July, leaving on 10 August, and will be staying with Libra.)

Re: Castlefest 2010

Yeah, I've been keeping it quiet on the boards, for fear of jinxing it. I'll be coming with my best friend, one of my brothers (the two of them talked me into going again, because they want to go too), and my mother.
Provided I get time off work, of course, but I don't think that'll be too much of a problem. I don't think August is such a busy time, and my boss seems pretty nice, so I don't think he'll give me trouble. Still, I've got to wait a bit before I ask, because I think asking about holidays right in the middle of May madness might not make such a good impression!

Re: Castlefest 2010

Heh... best friend and I are working on her costume (just a simple dress much like mine), and it doesn't exactly help with waiting patiently.

Re: Castlefest 2010

I know.... working on the facepaint (need I bring more colours??? if you want to?) designs and the greaves and bracers doesn't really help with the waiting process either.... and my work-folk are being driven nuts due to me talking about it the whole time.... manager tried to shut me up by challenging me to wear the "vengeance maiden" costume to work in the week after Castlefest... hahahaha..

And darn darn darn, my silly computer has turned the " and the @ sign around so I keep making mistakes... now how does one fix that????

Re: Castlefest 2010

Oh, there are costumy things happening on this end as well.  I'll be posting something on the Blue Tailor thread real soon.

And I was keeping quiet about the pond-hopping too - seemed wise until I actually booked my flight, which I did over the weekend.  So it's official now, hee!

Re: Castlefest 2010

What's funny too is that this thread appears just after Sahi posted the first line of Otherland in the "Favourite Quotations" thread, which made me spend last night trying to remember all those funny lines from the first Castlefest night last year. Sat in the bathtub giggling about "You always count eyes clockwise".

Re: Castlefest 2010

Finally asked the boss about time off - doesn't seem to be a problem, since there's nothing to pot up at that time.
So, next weekend we need to finish that costume (since I'll be trying to drag my friend to another fair in ... two weeks? Three?), come up with something for my mother and brother to wear, and figure out when we'll be leaving, when we'll go home...

*crazy giggling*

Just a few more weeks! (Six now, I think.) Must get that costume finished this weekend, and if I have to nail my friend to the sewing machine. And figure out what the rest of the family is going to wear.

Re: Castlefest 2010

Heh. I had a pretty silly one a while back that I'm turning into a story - will have to remember to take pictures of people in more-or-less absurd or fantastic armour.

For me, it's 4 1/2 weeks until I get on the plane, woot!  And urk!  Only 4 1/2 to finish the costumes....  *starts panicking*

*edited, because there IS an 'e' in plane*

Re: Castlefest 2010

Sewing still not finished. Bah.

I'm currently trying to figure out a cheap way for my best friend and me to get home, since Mama will most likely want to stay longer than us. But that's not sure, so there's no point in buying train tickets now while we might still get some of the cheap ones. *grumble*

Re: Castlefest 2010

I bought prettypretty ribbons to pimp up my pink princess dress. Since I don't have a sewing machine anymore (exchanged useful femal flatmate with sewing machine for useless male housemate without such helpful equipment), I now have to do it all by hand. Aaaah!!

But YAY! Castlefest is coming! And if the weather stays only half as warm as it is now, we won't need any costumes at all. Bikinis can be our costumes!

Remember, you do still have a female friend with a lovely sewing machine...
