Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

O-o-o-o-o. Yarn stash! *drools* I'm not allowed to purchase any more until I finish two more pair of socks. I've the yarn for both.

Someday will find you.

Re: QM - Lithium

Working through my to-do list. The next item is writing the next to-do list, isn't that fun?

I'd meant to take a break from knitting - not working. I couldn't stand the sales training without knitting!

I'm not allowed to buy new yarn. Period. I have 4 boxes full of airproof bags full of yarn and a huge bag of yarn of various weigths(mostly, leftover sock yarn and acrylic-great for Amigurumi!). and two smaller bags with wool for felting. and 5 more skeins of the same(in petrol) are going to be delivered in two weeks time.
'course, a big part of that is what my mother gave me from her stash. and most of the acrylic i bought a few years ago. but still. i have no fear that i'll run out of yarn any time soon :D

am making felted slippers in gorgeous Bordeaux for meself now. needed a break from the small crochet-hook, what's better than 10mm knitting needles?

Re: QM - Lithium

I actually have a gift coupon for yarn, but no intention to use it. It's not enough to buy enough yarn for a serious project, and I don't really have a lot of money to spare.
But I still have a couple of skeins of sock-yarn.

Re: QM - Lithium

The second sock for my Mom's socks is almost done - halfway down the foot. Next up is a pair for my sister, and the pattern is toe-up. I've never done toe-up, and I am excited to learn a new skill.

Then, I have a pretty pink for my oldest daughter's socks - I think the Lothlorien socks.

Someday will find you.

I believe they do. Cabling isn't that difficult - you just gotta pay attention. I cable without a cable needle; they get in the way.

Re: QM - Lithium

I was incorrect. I'm making the Rivendell socks, not Lothlorien.

Rivendell requires cabling, too.

ya, i know. i'm just way too impatient to see good results, and at the moment i'm quite happy with making things that i actually can do and turn out pretty good. but there will be a time to learn new things:)

now, it's time to take a shower and go to bedsies-land. night-o!

Back from the shower. Plants are getting showered and sprayed too. I hate spider mites!

Just don't be afraid of cabling, Sister. I found it rather simple.

Re: QM - Lithium

I'm also too lazy to try more complicated things. I like quick, easy results. Keep meaning to learn cabling, but it hasn't happened so far.

Re: QM - Lithium

Bed. Gotta get up early tomorrow (to think that just a few months ago, getting up at six would have been gloriously late!)

Re: QM - Lithium

Woken up by the snow plow an hour before I'd planned to get up. And I'd prefer not to look like a sleep-deprived zombie today.

Re: QM - Lithium

It's been a good day for me so far - a job interview that went well, sunshine, snow, catbeast not being mad even though I smelled of dog, getting home early from the sales training, propagating some plants, and in a bit, chicken soup for dinner.
