Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

Oooo.  Can I have a tomato when I reach 600 posts?  I'm missing my tomato plants while they're in full tomato-producing mode.

Windshadow

The last episode was ruined for me by the trailer clip run by the tv network here before the episode aired.
The clip ended with a shot of Buffy's tombstone.
Doh !

You can have one for 567 posts if you want :-)

20 posts gets a stalk of rhubarb, 200 a pineapple ring.

Suppose when shadows reaches 5000 we'll have to wheel in a greengrocer's cart...

Re: Quiller´s Mint - The Treehouse

Yuck.  I hate it when do stuff like that in the previews.  Even if it's misleading (e.g., the many instances that Janeway supposedly dies in ST Voyager; very diappointing), it's still a pain.  I know they do it to get people to watch, but giving away the ending, especially in a "series finale" is just plain mean, especially to the diehard fans who have waited all season for it.

Re: Quiller´s Mint - The Treehouse

Well, I better get a-posting, then so I can have a tomato sandwich for dinner. :)

AZ is nice so far.  And I haven't found it overly hot because of the low humidity.  I'm used to humidity that raises the heat up quite a bit so even when it's only sorta hot it feels sweltering.

Woo-hoo!  I get rhubarb!  Now I just need some strawberries, and I'll make pie.  (What else does one do with rhubarb?)

There was a newspaper article recently that suggested that a "new BBC2 policy" was for all episodes of drama should begin with a set of highlights from the programme to catch the channel-viewer's interest.
So instead of a slow atmospheric build-up you'd get the big arguments / sex-scenes / tombstone shots all crammed into the first minute.

It wasn't April 1st either.
I'd be worried - but they wouldn't be that stupid. Would they?

Apparently people enjoy eating rhubarb just plain, or dipping it in sugar or salt.  I don't know why, though.

Although Sky made the aforementioned blunder at least they managed to show the Buffy and Angel episodes back to back and uncut.
When I see what BBC does with them I shudder.

Re: Quiller´s Mint - The Treehouse

Will Nolan do all the presentations of pineapple rings to people who reach their 200th post?

Now that I think about it I'm not sure if that would be a good thing or a bad thing...

With salt? I know I used to eat it with sugar when I was little (just a blok of sugar and a piece of rhubarb, hmmmmm) but with salt?? I can't imagine how that would taste.

I see you like my suggestion :-)

Re: Quiller´s Mint - The Treehouse

Plan of action:

(i) Get job. (sorted)
(ii) Stay in job long enough to earn some money. (trickier)
(iii) Spend money on computer hardware upgrade so I can run dvds with my dvd drive :-)
(iv) Buy series 1 & 2 on DVD and watch them.

This is kind of expensive in both time and energy to watch a tv show though.
Particularly if you consider how many books I could buy for that sort of money.

Well, I have enjoyed chatting with you all, but I have to get going.  It will probably be a week again before I can get back here.  I'll miss it (again).  Talk to you later.  Nre'fa'o.

Re: Quiller´s Mint - The Treehouse

Bye Bye.
See you again sometime.
Not sure when though, since I'm not going to be online at this time of day from about Thursday onwards (moving, and my new landlady hasn't got net access, which, given my current usage, can only be a good thing.)
