Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'

And it's indeed in the VirtualStore! Thanks for solving this for me. I would never, ever have found that on my own.

no problem :)

I can remember having a similar experience once before, and stumbling across the VirtualStore by accident later.

Re: QM - The Genisis X is leaving Mint

I think it only puts stuff in the virtual store if a program wants to write to a directory that it shouldn't really have write access to (eg, a global directory like the root of a drive, or Program Files, etc), but would have had in XP and earlier - so if you created your workspace as a subdirectory of your user directory, it should have appeared where you expected it.

I jotted the location of the VS down on my notepad with a large rectangle around it. :)

Well the repairman still has half an hour to meet his own deadline. (He called this morning stating he'd be here in between 11AM and 2PM.)

My father is so impossible. He called last night to inform us he is stranded somewhere in the middle of Spain with a broken car.

Maen Mint.

I've finally got most of my software back on my laptop.

That's most excellent, Sahi.

Question of the day: Should I stay or should I go? My job, that is.

People are disappearing all around me. My other paralegal has been reassigned. My boss is not happy with the firm and letting everyone know it.

Or should I stay until they let me go. They do have good severance packages.

Someday will find you.

Perhaps, if he would tell it...

Last thing we heard about him was that he went to the airport a couple of days ago (according to a friend he was living with for a while). It seems that instead, he went to Spain by car. (And as far as I know, he knows about as much Spanish as I know Italian, which is not much.)

Re: QM - The Genisis X is leaving Mint

I feel very unproductive again. But I mustn't let myself waste the day in front of the computer again.
I suppose I should go for a walk, and try to buy a wastepaper basket (if I find one I like).

Re: QM - The Genisis X is leaving Mint

We have a wastepaper basket from Ikea. It's from braided(?) wood. Hmm, I can't find it on their site.

That is what I am thinking. However, I would lose a rather attractive severance package if I quit, which is the only item that is the "stay" column.

Well while looking you don't have to quit just yet... ;)

True. But if I stay until they show me the front door, I'll have a couple of months' pay in severance.

Finding a new job will not be difficult. There's a large demand for "secretaries" due to the lack of supply.

That's more or less what I'm looking for. But all I could find today was ugly, shrilly-coloured plastic. I won't allow that in my room.

I should have gone to Ikea while I was at school. School is practically "right next to it" (which, considering that it is out in the middle of nowhere means only about 20 min on foot away).
