Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

I get stuck with that too, but in an bass ackwards way.  As it pertains to clothing design, that is.  I do a lot of reverse-engineering.  What happens is that I get the flow of what I design, but can't figure out the best way to make it happen, i.e. get stuck in the mechanics.

What, that's a few months ago?

Aren't you sweet. *huggles*

Oh, dear, my birthday is moving up quick! 33! That's so very solidly in the thirties, isn't it?

Puh-leeze.  I'll be celebrating the 11th anniversary of my 29th birthday in about 3 months.

Re: QM - The Room with a View

Age is always hardest for me to deal with when I'm not happy with where I am in my life. 25 was a very difficult one, and in so many ways I feel like I'm right back where I was at 25, hitting a big ole' wall in my life and trying to figure out where to go next, hoping to turn a corner soon....

Re: QM - The Room with a View

I was putting myself though design school at 25 and broke.  But happy.

At 33, I was married and miserable.

Age is not indicative of anything.

Yeah, I know, I guess it's just that it's a milestone. Like Christmas and Thanksgiving are starting to make me a little sad, because I keep thinking it would be more fun with children....

... where I literally had a baby in the oven.  Low temp, keep it warm, like a loaf of bread.  But I knew (even in dream) that wasn't right and the baby need water and can't be left unattended.  I SO failed!  FAILED!

My take on the dream -- there's a saying that "having a bun in the oven" -- being pregnant, not that you're mistreating your baby.

Your subconscious wants to be pregnant.

Oh, I got that immediately.  The problem was the way that I failed to take care of the baby.  I forgot it was in the oven, no water or sustenance.  Or even remembering baby was in the oven!  Epic Fail.

*tickles* You wouldn't want to know what passed through my head when I was pregnant, had infants. It's normal. Nature's way of making sure we don't put the baby in the oven, etc.

I woke up so many times thinking I had the baby in bed with me and I thought I had rolled over and smothered her!

Wow, cyan, that's intense. How'd you deal with it? Or did it just sort of... go away in time?

I understand where it comes from, mostly.  That's what helps with the uncertainty.  Remember, I decided a long time ago not to have children.  I still feel that way.  Those dreams made me question.

*nods* Silly subconscious. It makes so much more sense not to have children. That's what I keep telling my biological clock, too. Wish it would listen!
